My wife's FJ62 recently started to make some racket or vibrate in the speedometer. I plan on opening it up and checking the lubrication. Has anyone else run in to this problem? It has close to 190K on the odometer.

Thanks!

took alot of the bounce out of mine by removing it and lubing w/ lithium grease. still some bounce at low speeds but it settles down about 25-30mph.

search this forum for much more info
people have tried a variety of fixes, with mixed results
bike cable lube is a good choice

Mine started making the same ratcheting noise just a few days ago when the temp here dropped below freezing. My plan is to pull it apart and lube it up with some lithium grease, after I do the oil pan gasket, the tranny pan gasket, the lifter adjustment...

Why do I dig this truck so much again?

Oh yeah, if I wasn't working on the truck I would have to be inside with my wife while she watches Tivo'd episodes of Oprah and Army wives... :flipoff2:

Ha! at least its not the real housebitches of orange county! That will keep me in the garage all night. And when i do come inside i get asked why i dont make as much money as those girls husbands. women...

Nobody has come out and said it, but what they are talking about lubricating is the speedometer cable, not the gauge. If you disconnect the cable from the transfer case end you can pull the cable out from the housing and lube it up.
