speedo woes

i broke 2 speedo cables in 1 week, up at the speedo housing. Has anyone taken out the speedo and cleaned it up inside, so there is less resistance?

IIRC, there is a c-clip that holds it all together at one end, remove that and the inards slide out so you can re-grease.

I found the answer by searching-apparently the speedo itslef can be cleaned with electrical parts cleaner and brake cleaner.
