I think my speedo cable has busted, stopped working today testing my rear rotor change, sure it's nothing I have done, wierd tho??? I emailed a mate of mine and he said that he silver soldered his speedo cable back together and it is still running 2 years later, is it possible to remove the cable for him to repair and still be able for me to use the LC, I can't be arsed using public transport, not even sure where the cable runs or even know if it's a cable or electronic. anyone help?

I have a 1996 4.5 petrol, it dosn't have a digital mileometer so presumed it was cable, perhaps it is electronic, thats why I'm asking the question...regards Mick.

My 96 petrol doesn't have a speedometer cable, it's done electrically via a hall sensor on the tail shaft on the t-case. Your's is probably the same. I'd start by checking the connections at the t-case. I'm on the road right now so I don't have the ewd available to help further.

Sorry guys.... when I said the speedo was not working, I meant the odometer, the speedo is ok, it's jusy stopped clocking up miles, is that still done electronicly?

oh boy, if the speedometer is working then it's in the assembly, which is the speedometer/odometer unit. CDan says that the only part available is the whole instrument panel/display. Got to beleive the price on that thing will require a tube of KY and a bottle of Tylenol.
