Hi All,

My '09 is at the alignment shop now and it looks like my tires are rubbing the SPC's. Any feedback from those who might have been through this?

I've read and seen multiple folks with similar are larger tires and SPC's with the only fender rub being mentioned.

Setup is as follows:
- Icon Stage 2
- RW wheels
- 285/75/17

They just need to be properly adjusted and maybe the bottom cam bolt on the LCA. You just need a good alignment shop.

Thanks Willy.

It appears that with the uppers slid all the way out for tire clearance, there wasn't enough adjustment in the lowers to compensate. Per the shop, it's in the "green" now but the uppers are sitting above the tire. I know at least one or two folks have run SPC with 285/75/17's on RW wheels and you're running even larger tires so I'm a little puzzled.

Print out the instructions from SPC and take them to an alignment shop willing to listen and follow the instructions provided.

I'm betting TexAZ is correct with his statement. If my current tires (13.19" width) clear than your tires should clear. sucks but you know it should work out in the end.

It's actually a very qualified cruiser shop / supporting vendor who installed the arms and has triple checked them against the SPC instructions.

Everyone is a bit baffled

Do you have a picture? I know the "star plate" is easy to install backwards.

If you have the star plate in the "D" position, the SPC logo should be visible.

Will get a pic today and share. I know that both orientations were tried just for kicks to make sure that wasn't the issue.

From that view, I can't tell.
The brass colored piece directly below the black control arm should have the SPC logo facing the tire. If the logo is facing the coil over, it's installed backwards.

Have you called SPC? Those guys are great tech heads and friendly. From the pic I'd say rotate the whole ball joint deal 180 degrees to kick your tire out. Did you ask your guys about that?

Thanks for the input.

The ball joints were installed correctly initially, then when the first issue arose, flipped 180* to see if that would fix it. It cured the clearance issue but no way, no how was it going to align and with this orientation, it was opposite of SPC's instructions.

Was able to get input from some
of the main vendors here and the concesses seems to be that not all trucks are the same and some will need to run spacers while some will not.

I'm going to do that for the short term but still scratching my head on how it could be so different than what others have experienced. It looks like I'm the first to post this issue from what I could find when searching.

About the label facing out...

On my updated SPC UCAs (Slee had these early and installed just prior to Ouray), there is no longer an SPC logo facing outward. My original SPC UCA's brass colored plate DID have their logo facing out...and perhaps they've added it to the updated onenow, but mine show nothing facing the tire...and show only a serial number, or some such number facing forward, and another number facing backward.

Here are two images of my left front UCA... See how it compares...

This is with the tire turned all the way left, shot from the front.
I rubbed my finger across the front-facing numbers. There was nothing facing the tire.

The SPC logo is facing the tire. I had the alignment shop flip it both ways just to be sure. With the ball joint in the "0" position on the star plate and slid all of the way out there isn't enough adjustment in the lower cams to bring camber in to spec. With the ball joint centered in the slot there was barely enough play to get the camber correct. I went up and watched the alignment guy yesterday just to make sure something wasn't lost in translation. I'm baffled.

heres my last two ideas for you to check out:
Look at the invoice from who supplied your UCA's and make sure it reads #25465 (LC200) / not #25490 (Tundra)
and make sure there UCA's are installed on the correct side of the vehicle - not reversed - not sure thats even possible but what the heck.
Not knocking anyone - just might as well verify.
good luck dude! Hope you figure this out. you'll love your Icons!!!!

Will double check part numbers but they even arrived with 200 series instruction sheet.

Confirmed the mounting sides are also correct.

What's wild to me, and its visible in my pics, is that even with my stock tires/wheels you can see the near contact. If I kept stock wheels and ran just a slightly larger tire, I would probably still have contact issues regardless of my RW wheels and 285/75 tires.

Long story short, we had to opt for 1.25" wheel spacers to make it work comfortably. Below is a pic of how close it was without the spacers.
