Just a heads up if anyone is in the market for front UCAs. The newer single piece SPC/ Light Racing UCAs are being sold in Mevotech boxes on RockAuto for $400/ set; the cheapest I usually saw them for was between $540-630/set. Everything appears identical to parts displayed elsewhere. I saw this posted in an FJ forum so I placed an order to see for myself.

Well this is interesting...

That bearing carrier to control arm joint looks substantially weaker than the incorrectly pictured product from the website.
' light racing' Sounds appealing, but for a different application.

But with further digging, that looks like the ones you've mentioned regularly priced elsewhere for $600.

"Light racing" I guess is just their name/model...?

Good find! Thanks for sharing here!!

Hmm....

That is confirmed to be the same as long as you get fresh stock. Some retailers might still stock older mevotech.

Don't forget you could get 5% less just by searching for rockauto discounts code.

Is that what those Freedom OffRoad UCA's are? I've heard some have shown up with SPC stickers in Mevotech boxes or something like that.

Unfortunately I got the much inferior older version for both of mine. The welded arms instead of the one piece forged unit. Trying to setup a return now as these are definitely not what I want.

Damn, sorry. That's a drag.

Functionally, are these arms any better than those freedom arms that are $345 on amazon?
I imagine if we are buying arms it is because we needed more caster. The amazon ones provide more caster. If we didn't need it, we would stay stock.
I am not clear why to buy these over the freedoms. But I am open to suggestions.

The SPC's are adjustable for caster and camber. That is why I went with them. The factory adjusters have a limit which isn't enough to compensate for 2"+ of lift.

My understanding is the freedom arms are not adjustable but that they give a fixed 2 degrees increase to both camber and caster so the factory cam bolts are back to being useful.

There are several options like that and I think it is a good one. Especially if the price is right

@andymmiami thanks for brining up these questions, Ive been meaning to ask them too....

I think many are 3 degrees fixed (dobinsons, GXOR-branded UCAs on treaty oak, total chaos, freedom off-road,.etc). And given the OE balljoints in the tubular steel UCAs vs. the proprietary joint in SPCs (which some reviews dislike as.rhey can shift, whereas the steel.ones.are.fixed @ 3°), what are other advantages to the SPCs?
The Ironman forged Al look good for the strength to weight comparison and they also take OE joints.

I like the SPCs and they're super popular, and I'd like to hear more support for them.

I think SPC's are popular because they were at one point, the cheapest UCA around. Now they cost almost as much as every other UCA. As far as the adjustable ball joint, well I never needed it and most probably don't either. Seems like another thing to go wrong when on the trail.

I like SPC because they are adjustable. I like tinkering with my suspension and it gives me options.

I am about to install offset superpro bushing with goal to move front suspension forward. This supposed to give additional caster 0.6° from front bushing and 1° from rear bushing.

Once I do this, I would move my SPC UCA to 0° setting. The goal is to eventually run 35x10.50R17 without Body Mount Chop and no rubbing.

Keep us posted on this 35” quest.
