Title pretty much says what I'm looking for. Need to know the part number for spark plugs for my '66 F motor. Got a set of NGK's (BPR5EY) but they have twice as much thread as the Split Fires (SF8E) I pulled from the motor (like for later F and 2F motors). Prefer the NGK number as that's what is stocked at Advanced; where I have to return the other plugs anyway. Not sure if the boneheads there can cross the ND number if I had that and their listings don't go back to '66 for Cruisers.

Thanks!

I have no idea what my F motor is out of, but if it helps I can pull one tomorrow.

No way is yours a 135 F like he has. Different plugs, Mike!

Thanks Jim! You might make a note of the Split Fire equivalent from my original post for your notes...or you might not. :)

Mike, I'd bet you have a newer F in your truck '69-73 that uses the long reach plugs (long thread - 1/2" - 9/16" long threaded section) like a 2F. As Jim noted, the early F motors used a 3/8" reach plug.

1966 FJ45lv...

go to http://www.densoproducts.com/resultsSearch.asp

enter W16FS-U in the search field. I didn't buy from that site but they do have all the specs on Denso plugs. The application guide on that page shows Corvair but those plugs are what I am running.

14mm thread, 12.7mm(1/2") reach, 13/16" hex, U-groove ground electrode

Napa spark plug wire set - Napa part # 700126 7mm (blue in color if that bothers you)

The longer reach plugs that are NOT correct are 3/4 reach. Those are the ones found in the later F and 2F engines. Cruiser Nerd can you doublecheck your 3/8" measurement for me? I was not aware of a 3/8" reach plug.

What happens if you put the longer reach plug in there? Does the piston dome chop them off or something? :D

I had the longer ones in when I bought the truck. It didn't hit the piston on a 66 F engine. For some reason, it idles much smoother with the correct ones in.

Yeah, I was kidding. The piston domes don't come into the head AFAIK. I think it has to do with the spark explosion wave propogation for the shape of the cylinder as to how it affects running.

Junkster, how about a shot of the other side of the motor? The intake/exhaust manifold will tell more about your motor than the distributor side...

Nick

I think Mike has an F 155 engine that someone stuck in there, then put all that 2F spaghetti/emmissions crap on top of it to make it look like a later motor.

damn newb!!! :grinpimp:
 Yeah, yeah, yeah.... :D

What I'm getting at is the early F has a way different intake/1barrel carb. I'm betting that Junk has a later F with a 2 barrel carb manifold and an EFI conversion. But I can't see that with the valve cover in the way.

Since when did you become the Cruiser expert anyway "minitruck Mike"!? ;p

Teach me to open my mouth in the 45 section. I dug and dug and couldn't find info for '66, someone has to have it. The 3/8" reach was correct for '60 though. :o Here's info on it: Superplug

Bump from the past... I need some plugs for my 66' 45, Toyota can still order the 69' & later ones, they can't go any further back in their computer. Anyone have the Toyota part# for the early plugs?

Did anyone confirm the NGK number above is the correct one? For the early F motors (66' era?)

Part number 9091901015 was superceded by part number 9009816775.

Kurt, this is the plug from my 9/64 F135 which is the correct Toyota part. Unfortunately, I don't have the box it came in to be sure of the Toyota PN, but here is what is in my 67 parts book, which should correspond. The original number is 90919-01004, apparently upgraded to 90919-01083. (Thread is 1/2", BTW)

I got the plugs from SOR, though, and there's a chance the number is further upgraded. Your dealer, I expect, should be able to get it from the original number, though.
