Hey Guys,

I have a friend that works at a Lexus dealership and he has been collecting some spare parts for me for when I take my Cruiser on the tougher trails.

From watching the board the main things that take a licking are the rear driveshaft and the rear, lower control arms.

He has collected me some of both and I gave him $150 SHIPPED for a spare rear driveshaft and the lower control arms.

I will give you guys his contact information if you would like to collect these spares as well. Just PM me your email address and I will hook you guys up.

I got a spare long side CV from him as well and he is going to get me a short side CV when he removes one for warranty next time.

These parts are nearly new, it is funny......

Can you think of anything else we need to get this guy to start collecting?

cv's for a lx450!

I knocked a rear drive shaft and had it retubed. Bent a lower control arm, had it retubed, broke a mount, had it plated and covered. I carry fuses and fluilds. I'll carry front cv's once I break one. But as I'm open in the front I hope that it's a ways off. You've got a stronger front dif than I. Don't think I'd cary one of those. For the $150 I'd get the parts but I don't know I'd carry them on trail.

Usually the things that you carry never fail. And if you carry everything you will double the weight ;).
I've carried one spare front shock and one spare rear shock. Some fluids and some things for improvising. And now I even plan to reduce that. I prefere to look for a part when it fails or find someone skilled enough that is able to improvise and fix the failed part.
I've seen a bent solid axle and chasis both straightened with improvised tools. It's true that it's hard to repair a blown CV joint or propeller shaft, but it's usually possible to get the car home with a 2WD only.

Regards
Samo

The CV axles are the same for both sides. You carry one spare and it'll fit either side. What are you referring to? (long-side and short-side)

John, the CV axle assembly is the same on both sides. The diff is offset though, so there is an axle tube and shaft on one side as well as the CV axle assembly. I'm assuming he is refering to that additional long side axle.
