hey guys, I have a 97 LX 450. I'm wanting to buy a tire mount for the back cargo area fort spare. Where and what should I get to mount my spare in the back cargo area? I'm looking for something that will be solid and hold the tire down and to the side

Thanks

Phil has a nice set up. I'm sure he will pipe in here soon. If not I can get a link latter for hou.
Search puma spare tire rack you will find it.

Love Phil's tire carrier!

I have one of Phil's tire carriers, the best thing about it is that it uses factory mounting points and if I need to I can pull it out and put the third row seat back in.

▲I love you guys:D

2 quality ratchet straps, attached to floor and side seat mounts.

^This^ this can work but many are challenged getting a secured and safe set up. Have you ever tried ratchet straps with a flat tire.

Our set up takes the guess work out of securing the tire and makes it easy for anyone to remove, replace, and secure a 100lb tire. You carrier also includes a mount for a variety of mounting options including the all famous PUMA compressor:idea:

Interior tire mounts available Click HERE

We keep all of our accessories in stock and normally ship within 24hrs

I have made a bunch of the mounts, and still run the original in my rig. Now, just do the ratchet strap thing, if done correctly, is just as or more solid. The carrier takes room, when strapped, the spare can be closer to the wheel well, side wall. In the event that large cargo needs to be hauled, the spare can be easily removed, allowing the whole back to be open.

Our design actually takes up less than using ratchet straps when you take in account where the ratchet strap attaches and the size of the strap mechanism. We also offer custom widths (at no additional cost) so if you run a narrow tire you gain much more usable room than with ratchet straps. Our carrier only takes up 1.25" in width again less than a ratchet strap and nothing more front to rear.

I do agree ratchet straps can secure a tire well but the problem is most people have a difficult time securing the tire adequately. This is the main reason and by popular demand we brought a better design forward.
