spare tire carrier build w/trailer spindle?

has anyone used a trailer axle spindle for there custom tire carrier?

thinking about my next project

I use them on all my tire carriers. I take the 5lug bearing hub, and turn it down in the lathe, so it is just a cylinder, with out the wheel mounting flange. They work great. I have 2 with 35's, and one with a 37.
