Hi all! Long time cruiser owner and been on mud for quite some time. I keep wanting to get to a Seattle Cruiserheads meet up but it is difficult for me coming from the Hood Canal area (I am hoping April will be my first). I know that this used to happen and it has been pretty quiet around here, but this has got me thinking about a West/South Sound focused group. I live in a community on the south shore of the Hood Canal that has a beautiful beach club with 400' of waterfront and great views of the canal and Olympics. The space has a large cabana with a fireplace, heaters and tv that I think would be a great place to meet for the first time and we could decide what to do from there. I know that everybody has busy lives so I figured that I would start on here to get the word out in enough time to give this a try. I am proposing a first meet up maybe in May? If we did this would people prefer a week night or week end day? I will put a post over in the Seattle cruiserheads thread since that seems to have the most activity and see if there are others there that live farther south/west who might be interested.

Hi Bullzi! I used to carry a juvenile parole caseload up there and I remember it being like an hour or hour and a half to get to some of the areas and that was going through Silverdale. Nobody would have a better view than your 101 south drive along the canal though :)

I love that drive. I actually do it quite a bit. I have family in Portland and its much prettier and just a little faster to go down the hood canal rather than going through Silverdale & Tacoma...

What town are you in?
I would be interested in a meetup, but probably wouldn't be able to make it a regular thing. 1 - 1.5hrs is a long way. My FJ60 is getting worked on right now and I probably wont have it back for a few months.

Totally get it. I figure that if there are enough of us that it would be a small group meeting on a regular basis assuming that some could not come every time. I also could see it like the Seattle Cruiser heads where we move the site around (Silverdale, Olympia, Gig Harbor etc..)

Technically live in Belfair, but am located 1 mile west of Twanoh State Park. I work for Mason County and my office is in downtown Shelton so my "commute" is along the canal every day.

That’s a pretty area right there. I had a buddy stationed at Twanoh as a Ranger for a few years and came out a few times to camp.

Looks like early consensus is to do this on a weekend. How about May 15th starting at 1pm? Again, I figure this initial meet up we can discuss whether or not to try for something on a regular basis and if so where and when. Our community beach is located at 13501 State Route 106 in Belfair, WA 98528 and is 1 mile West of Twanoh State Park or about 6 - 6.5 miles east of the Highway 106/Highway 3 junction in Belfair. As others have asked/mentioned, there is camping at Twanoh State Park, Belfair State Park and Potlatch State Park which are all pretty close for those looking to turn it into a get away weekend. Thank you all for the interest and I will send reminders as we get closer on this board as well as the Seattle Cruiserheads Googe group.

I'd love to get together and maybe do some local runs sometime. I'm on Harstine Island. Keep me in the loop for May.

@Maddog72 - I live down in Centralia now, but I grew up in Mason County (Agate & Spencer Lake roads off Hwy 3). There is a lot of beautiful area out there. I was just out at Tahuya last weekend with my 40. I spent the day slow crawling around the 4x4 trails. It was our first time, and we were really impressed - had a great time! Do you ever hit those trails, or do you stick to asphalt?

That sounds pretty great. I am in the Puyallup area, so it's not super close, but neither is Seattle. I would love to meet some other folks.

On Bainbridge. Not sure if I can make the May meeting, but will definitely try to get to one of them.

Hi all, less than a week until our meet!! Just a reminder that our community beach is located at 13501 State Route 106 in Belfair, WA 98528 and is 1 mile West of Twanoh State Park or about 6 - 6.5 miles east of the Highway 106/Highway 3 junction in Belfair. I arbitrarily picked 1pm but feel free to come when you can, I'll be down there earlier than that. Look forward to meeting everyone. - Jim
