Guys,

Im going to be replacing rotors/brakes all the way around. And bearing repack while in there. The parts list comes out to $630. I get the whole pay top play gig, but dang it man!

Have any of you replaced your rotors and brakes with parts sold by Oreily, NAPA, or PEP Boys? I understand some of you use high end pads and such but i really cant afford top dollar and im having a tough time justifying the high price tag.

Please dont post any high end equipment. Im looking to save some cash.

Parts list below. Thanks!

That price was from @cruiserdan. I just have some class i need to pay for and cant afford that high of a price right now. I have bought from him before, but not able to at this time. Hence my inquiry about other non EOM, less expensive solution.

Unfortunately limited income and Land Cruiser are not a good fit. :(

Oh, 100s do indeed exist. I'd have one if it was a 105 variant.......:grinpimp:

Try rockauto.com. I paid less than half that with name brand stuff including brembo rotors and pads. I went a little too cheap and bought rebranded raybestos pads for the front that were on clearance. I've had good luck with raybestos pads in the past, but not these. They ground the rotor until they seated, but if you buy the better stuff you will be fine. I have had plenty of good luck with them for years. Half the price of advanced or pep boys too. Returns and cores are a pain and I hate waiting for parts when your car needs fixed or is apart, but if you can wait it's priced right.

Why don't you do the fronts now and put off doing the rears for awhile?

Thank you all. I did not know i could just do the fronts. Ill check out those places.

I'm not quite sure what your intent was cruiserdan, but a personal affront about limited income wasn't civil, or the OP's question. Are you insinuating we all have unlimited income? I'm confused.

Buy OEM everything when possible, it's well worth the money. And, like others have mentioned, do the fronts first and hold off on the rears until funds become available.

All variables considered, these are in fact, budget friendly rigs for people (like me) on LIMITED incomes....

The point is these are high-end luxury vehicles and will always be expensive to maintain. This additional financial burden needs to be considered when purchasing a used one.

The vehicle may be affordable but the upkeep may not be.

Are new rotors necessary? I mean are they damaged, warped (as per a dial gauge, not internet hearsay) or at minimum thickness? Don't just replace rotors due to FOMO. I guarantee the pile of perfectly serviceable rotors that have been replaced before they needed to be is pretty tall. If your rotors don't qualify as damaged or unsafe then I'd just do new OE pads with the fitting/shim kits and lightly dress the rotor surfaces by hand. Maybe consider new rotors next pad change.

Yeah, they need replacing. Took it to my mechanic and he said they need turning. Id rather swap them for new. I never really liked having them turned, i just replace them.

May want to look into on-the-car rotor turning. It would save you from dealing with the wheel bearings and any chip cleaning issues. That said, might be a good time to repack the bearings anyway.
