Hey guys I am going to add some dampening to my trailer as sometimes it gets a little bouncy on the high way. Do you guys know where to source some small shocks that would fit the tiny springs I am running? Anything designed for a utility trailer would be great.

I will one day cut off the weak suspension on my trailer and go all out... however, that will take some time and money, both of which are in short supply around my life :D

I'm not so sure adding shocks will eliminate...
or even minimize bounce if the trailer and load are lite.

I would think it smarter to play with tire pressure and compensate that way...

Might find help with these folk...

Yeah, I agree, but I come in around 800-1000# wet... surely I can dampen some of the bounce?

Get your compressed length and your extended length and go to your favorite auto parts store and pick out how much you want to spend, I have rancho 5000 on mine. Mine bottom out to quickly and my bump stops are useless. When add more lift to the trailer it will be better but for now, no big hits please.

Figure out where your shock mounts will be first, to state an obvious point.

Good luck and have fun. If you do it right, when you upgrade to bigger leafs you may be able to keep these shocks.

Our E2 tent trailer has shocks as do other off road tent trailers but things can still get pretty bouncy if I don't adjust the tire pressure when off road. You might be able to get some specs or parts from the tent trailer manufacturers for the shocks they use.

M416/CDN M101/M100....shocks?

Have you looked at shocks for a 1/4t military trailer?

I run these on my CDN M101 and have zero complaints.

NAPA, part number RR 94038
Nominal Extended Length = 17.875 inches
Nominal Compressed Length = 11.25 inches

I scrounged around the pull- it- yerself junkyard to find likely candidates
(for length and mount style)

and came up with Peugeot 406 rears.

Very short, they work on a pretty high motion ratio so
they are very high damping, and they use studs at the ends.

This was for #3000 on a single axle...
