I'm getting pretty close to needing front brakes and I want to upgrade to cryo treated rotors. I found the best prices at TireRack for Stoptech rotors and Hawk LTS pads, so I ordered them a couple weeks ago. Welll... they sent me rotors for the 2016+, which are about 1/2" larger in diameter. Couldn't re-install the caliper. Put the old stuff back on for now, they finally picked up the wrong rotors for return yesterday (weird UPS story that goes along with that). They can't give me a ship date for the correct ones.

Is there a better option for slotted cryo treated rotors that I should consider, that aren't crazy expensive? The StopTech rotors were really nice looking, I was bummed they were the wrong ones.

I think Rob also has place where he sends them in to be cryo'd, so call/text him for that option.

I got DBA rotors from KNS, sent them to the place @Taco2Cruiser mentioned:

The treatment solidified the oil coating on new rotors, they look normal now. Save yourself a few bucks and ship them directly there.

I put those StopTech cryo treated rotors on my 60. In my case they fit exactly. They did create more brake dust on the wheels- kinda like cheese graters- but they definitely did stop the cruiser well. I liked them.

I don't even wanna know what that costs. Yikes...

Well, I wasn't very smart with how I went about it, but the treatment was only about $100. Look at KNS, they have a lot of cryo'd rotors, including some Stoptech blanks: KNS Brakes

Wow, they do have great prices! Wonder if they will ship direct to the 300 Below place? Hmmm...

Here's a nice set...

My thoughts... if you want them? With New England's harsh conditions, I can't imagine a cryo'd rotor with slots going 2 - 3X the distance. Rust will build in the slots (especially now that APC/Centric/Stoptech no longer coats the slots) and small chunks will be falling from the edges and vanes long before the cryogenic treatment pays off.

Low mileage late model Tundra take off calipers - $200 or less.
Centric Premium 120.44156 can be had for as low as - $50 a pop = $100
I'll show you the two spots that need to be drilled to bolt the 200 hoses to the calipers -free
Tundra splash shields with big vents are optional.
Budget achieved.

The StopTech rotors I had here were really nice, they had a heavy coating on the hat and inside the vents. Nicest rotor I've ever seen. Too bad they didn't fit.

I don't need calipers, mine still look almost new. Only 71K miles on them. Maybe next round.

Ken is very customer-service oriented, I'd imagine he would.

You can have the calipers I took off my '18. Pay for shipping and don't re-sell them. If Brian will confirm that's what you need.

I bought the centric cryo slotted rotors and semi-metallic fleet pads since the cryo rotors were not much more $ than the stock ones. They’re dusty but work well. Not a big change from stock though except when towing they do handle abuse better. I think I paid about $500 for a set of 4 rotors and pads

I opted for factory cryo since I trust centric to do it correctly. Aftermarket some vendors may do a good job but if someone does a half assed job it can make the rotors brittle and cause more harm than good.

Solution: I called Ken at KNS Brakes this afternoon, we had a good chat. Super nice guy. He could get the StopTech rotors I wanted, but it was gonna take 4-5 weeks at least. He highly recommended the DBA rotors, and said it is not wroth the expense to do the cryo treatment (his opinion). So I ordered the 4-rotor DBA kit, as I knew my rear rotors are probably not far behind. So I'm all set. Thanks for the info, and referral. Will use them again.

I have to ask, what application you are running that you want the extra cryogenic treatment for? I can understand racing, but for towing and hd applications there are some other options available - like power stop rotors and pads. I haven’t installed mine to speak for performance gains but others have seen it and it seems like less of a hassle. I have them in my garage and waiting on swapping off winter tires to do the whole thing.

I was looking at the longevity aspect. Obviously I'm not racing, and I rarely tow anything. So maybe it was overkill, and that is what Ken (KNS) convinced me. I just hate buying stuff twice.

Glad it worked out, get ready for some heavy discs of metal to arrive. I figured the cryo was overkill, but I have more money than sense. And I don't really have that much money.
