overhead radio

My '71 doesn't have a top and never will. I like the open air. I used a piece of acrylic about 12 inches wide to cover the front of the roll bar. Then I got a radio mount from a boating supply store to mount under it next to the center roll bar, on the driver's side. This put the cd/am/fm in easy reach of the driver with no 'look down' distraction. Of course the cd is worthless unless parked, but there is a front input for ipod/mp3.
The speakers are small cubes from Radio Shack.

Plenty of volume for most cruises and I still have that "open air" feeling from the clear acrylic!

Here's my solution, and the wife wanted secure storage for her purse.... out of sight, out of mind.
This is really cool. Do you have drawings or dimensions that you could send?

There are guys on here who have done this: I used to track a couple of builds a couple of years ago. The cleanest looks for all weather applications were for the guys who had roll cages. Most setups were a variation of marine speakers all around and a speaker/headunit/maplight box above up front.

I just ordered a set from these guys. I'm too stupid to button my soft top up before it rains so this was the way for me to go.
I'll make some type of stainless bracket and use the holes where the sun visors were to anchor them.
