Well tonight my neighbor and I were shooting the shizzel over a few beers and talking about our trucks. He's got a Jeep CJ (1995) that we installed 1 Ton Axels on with full disk brakes. He's got his stock brake booster that he thinks will work for the truck.---I say no way and that he needs to get a new brake booster to handle the new axels and added weight.

What do you guys think? I want him to build a safe truck becasue he's my neighbor, although he drives a Jeep.

Late UNO.

Obviously I'm not that intelligent becasue I can't spell it correctly on the the title of the thread..

its not a cj but a yj ,yes brake set up should work fine check out pirate

Pirate4x4.com would be a good place.

Booster should be fine, he needs a new Master Cylinder. Search the Jeep hardcore section for Corvette and E300 MC's. Should give him plenty to read.

I used the corvette MC in my XJ on 3/4 tons w/ discs at all 4 corners.

What Arya said, size of brake booster makes very little difference in performance, what is important is bore size of the master

i guess the brakes would have a lot to do with it. stock one ton stuff requires a lot of fluid to be moved to build up any pressure.
having 4 wheel disc brakes on them with the smaller 1/2 or 3/4 ton calipers would not require as much fluid.

sorry but if he told you he has a 95 CJ, he is a crack head.

Booster affects nothing beyond felt pedal pressure to achieve brake system pressure. It won't be a matter of safety, just driving preferences. If he likes the way it feels, then everything is good. If he wants a softer pedal than swap in a larger booster.
