I bought a 1991 landcruiser about 3 months ago. The motor had a loud knock. Long story short, it ran great except for the knock. I pulled the motor and did a complete overhaul. Put it back in, cranked on it and it wouldnt start. I started with the basics checking for spark and fuel. No spark, I looked at all my grounds and connectors, couldnt find anything that I missed. I checked for power to the coil and the ignitor. both have power. Every once in a while I would get a weak spark out of the coil. I replaced it thinking thats what it had to be. Nope, still nothing with the new one. Here's where I start scratching my head. I worked at my brothers shop growing up so I know quite a bit about cars. I went outside Saturday messing with connections again and try to start it. It fired right up, I noticed the CEL was on and then it just died. I tried a couple more times and it fired up again and then died. I noticed while it was running the CEL was on and goes off right before it dies. It did this like 3 times and now nothing again. Im at a loss, I would think if it was a connection problem it wouldnt die the way it is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Im stuck!

It was really crazy. I read a thread on here about the efi relay going bad often. So I went in the garage, pulled it out, tried to jump it to see if maybe that was the problem. I touched the #3 and 4 together on accident instead of #2 and 4, blew the efi fuse in the box. I replaced it and the damn thing fired right up. So I dont know if somehow that reset something or what, but it runs great now

this one was smoked, theres no way I wouldve missed it. the fuse link wasnt just broke, most of it was gone
