Hi, I bought my 04 lc 100 which comes with a 5 years old battery CCA850 RC130, this old one start to fail last week. I did some research and I found the ever start H7 could be a good deal (CCA800, RC160), so I went to Walmart but the assistant did not comfortable sell that H7 to me, he side H7 will not fit my LC and if I insisted to buy it he has to void the warranty .....(I know it sounds unbelievable ). Then he said the best battery in Walmart for lc100 is 24f, so I end up getting an "ever start platinum" 24F with CCA750 and RC140..., I don't do off-road, the only modified thing on my car are led headlight and back camera.

so will this 24f good enough for me? (the 24F still brand new there no installed, so if not I can return it)
and Could I go with H7?

Not sure where in your research you found H7 will fit in an LC, but 24 is the correct size.
I am wrong about this for sure now. the H7 seems has the right size (I have a very big battery plate in my car) and all higher spec than 24f just 20 bucks more, it made me think it could be a choice...

You can put a Group 24, 27, or with slight modification a group 31 in the petrol 100 series 👍

I am using 24 F Maxx Start on my 4runner and 2000 LC for past 4 years and 3 months. Still holds the charge and no issue what so ever.

24F served me for 8 years until I have accidentally zapped it. Depends on the ambient temps, I am in PNW, temps are quite moderate.

Both the 24F and 27F are what are installed by Toyota/Lexus.

A group 31 can be made to fit, with some effort.

A number of people have installed H7 or H8 batteries, but it is my understanding that they need a spacer/adapter to use the factory bracket to secure the battery.

If your use case is as a DD, with little to no modifications, a 24F (or 27F) should be work fine, and fit the factory bracket without issue.

It has been my experience that the 27F is generally a little higher spec, but a little harder to find.

If up in cold territory, I'd opt for the larger 27F over the 24F.

H7 fits fine. I use a cut piece of old heater hose under the clamp to hold it tight. Fit the biggest cca battery you can get

I did want to do this Thursday, maybe next time, but I'd better tell Walmart car guy I buy it for BMW 325. etc...otherwise they will not sell to me:frown:

Well, I already have that 24F under the hood...The only hope is my wife bought a 27F for me as my birthday gift if she did not push me to sell my lc 100 at that time...

And here I thought that the 27 was the standard one. That's what we just bought. My recollection is that the dimensions are the same except the 27 a bit longer. The latter fits perfectly in the tray.

27F gents, how’d you manage to install your battery from Costco? I just realized this doesn’t have any handles on it? :censor: Should my kids expect a round of cursing for today’s DIY?

Special order @ Costco FTW. 24f :flipoff2:

The MTX delivers ideal life and power for starting and accessories. It’s designed to replace original-equipment AGMs and provide the additional power required for performance vehicles and those with a high number of accessories or plug-ins.

No issue, just picked it up and set it in. Move your cables out of the way first with a zip tie to hold them or a bungee. The handles are overrated.
