The only thing I do not like about those LED's is the color. It's too blue. My high end flashlights have a warm tint or white tint. Then you have you cheap crappy flashlights from the hardware store that have the blue tint.

Isn't the blue tint added intentionally to LED's? I have a few LED flashlights and a couple of bulbs that put out nice white light without the pimp-tint.

Yes and no. I think some of the tints depends on the transmitters.

I have two PIAA low profile lights installed on my roof rack. They work great!

Though I don't have any installed on my LC yet, I like having a set of dedicated backup lights. Just wire them up to a relay with dedicated power and the trigger attached to the reverse light wire. Recommend mounting them down low as they generally cast more of a flood type beam with lots of spill and the obstacles you're trying to light up will be down on the ground. On my last truck, I mounted a good looking $20 set from AutoZone to the receiver hitch tube and they worked like a charm.

Installation page with more pics and info can be found HERE.

The bulbs I bought are a cool white. Some call it blue. Warm white is more of an "elegant" look to the striking cool white. Either way, I can see now.

These bulbs can be customized to accept any color you chose according to their website at jlclightings.com. So you can opt for warm white.

Another comparo shot of the new bulb (right) to the old bulb (left).

I am really pleased with this product.

I like that. $40 is a lot but they're CREE LEDs which are top of the line.

So I went ahead and bought these new high powered LEDs to replace my totally useless "high powered" LEDs and well, I'll let the pics do the talkin.
Thanks for the pics. I too have those useless LEDs so i have ordered the ones you posted.
Their web site doesn't ship to Australia, but they are on EBay Oz here:
Edit: see later post below with the correct eBay link

And these are the correct wedge style that our LCs use.
I'm looking forward to putting them in, thanks for the tip.
cheers

I agree, that's 20 apiece for the CREE's which is not that out of line especially including the proper bulb bases. I may very well go this route soon.

Nice. Already setup there also. I need to see what the bulbs are in my Rhino brake lights and my F350 reverse lights. They all suck too (due to tint on the trucks though).

Aux lighting really can't be beat, but these are about the best alternative I've found so far.

Also, they're customer/tech support is easy and great to deal with. I actually received a bad bulb and they sent me emails detailing how to fix it (flipping contacts), but I tested the bulb and turned out that the bulb was defective. Luis from JLC also called me back within 20 mins to follow up. Wow. Who does that?!
That's just outstanding service.

quoting my own post....they got my message and will be sending the 7440 wedge type which is good.
Thanks for putting me onto this as i've been looking for a better reversing LED solution for a while now.
cheers

Me too.

I purchased these but neither one is working - is there a special method of plugging them in?

Mine worked out of the box but I noticed someone had a similar issue with one bulb...

I don't think the mount is directional but you might try flipping them 180*

Strange neither works - and I did look when I plugged them in if they were directional - didn't look like it. I guess I need to check if my previous bulbs were working - maybe I have another problem.
