Hi

I have a 2000 UZJ100, and my AC fan is acting a little funny. I noticed that the cap (or cover) is missing on my Solar Sensor (sensor on the left hand drivers side dash). I presume that this may be the cause of my problems.

Does anyone know if I can get just the cover, or do I need to buy a complete new Solar Sensor (assuming it comes with the cover)

I found a part number for the Solar Sensor (88625-47031) for about $30, but I can't tell if the cover is included. I also found a number for a Sensor Cover (89437-60070) also about $30, but I can't tell if this is the cover for the Solar Sensor? Does anyone know???

Can anyone who has replaced their Solar Sensor advise if it came with a cover, or if the Sensor Cover above is the one I need???

Thanks

Can't help you with the part number question, but if you take it out of Auto does the fan work normally? If it's manually set to a speed then that should override the solar sensor.

Yes, manually setting the fan speed works fine. But I would like to get the cover for the Solar Sensor so that it works properly.

If anyone knows if the cap comes with the Solar Sensor, or if the cap is sold separately, please let me know.

Thanks.

It has been a while since I replaced mine. But I am pretty sure it comes with the cover. Best option is to give Beno a call. He will get you set up with the right part and the best price.

Just a quick update. I called American Toyota (505.998.0264) as some others suggested. Not sure who I spoke with, but they said I should get the complete solar sensor which included the cap.

They said that the other part number I had found for the sensor cover, was not the same sensor.

Anyway, I received the new solar sensor with the cap (quick shipping, THANKS American Toyota), and swapped it out. FYI, when I was replacing the sensor, it fell down into the dash (I think this is common based on other posts), and I had to pull the instrument cluster out a little bit to get the old sensor. But once that was done, it was simply plugging the new sensor in and pushing it into the hole. Took about 30 minutes tops, most of the time was spent fishing out the old sensor.

All is good now, THANKS again American Toyota (Beno, Dan, etc. great service).
