I am trying to figure out a the best way to wire my BJ70 for 12V accessories, my current system has many flaws. Also it looks like it was wired by a child (probably the PO or a mechanic) I have a lot of wiring to fix when I rip out the current system, so I want to make 100% sure this is perfect!

I decided that to simplify it for myself and to get advice from you guys on the fourm, I would draw a neat diagram of under my hood and wire it exactly like "Stone" (Thank you again for your diagram I couldn't have made this one without it)

Please review this diagram and add or take away anything that is wrong or can be changed (I have not signed it due to it being Stone's work)

I do like the locations of the switch being inside the cab, so I can just switch it without opening the hood!

Cheers

Nice thanks Stone

I'm going to use 10 gauge for all wiring of converter/switch/fuse box

cheers

Stone,
What did you do for the ground side of your fuse block? A better way of asking: Where did you ground your 12v accessories?

I also would like to know this.

I was just going through my dash getting all the 12V accessory wires the correct length. ie, Deck, cig lighter, and trailer lights and noticed the deck and cig lighter are on a brown ground wire which is part of the factory 24V deck wiring. I guess as long as everything has a way back to ground, weather it be through the body or a wire right to the ground on the low side battery it shouldn't matter, right?

I just finished this installation.

Everything seems to be working well, but I think I still have a draw on my batteries... as I installed the last cable of the battery system I noticed a tiny arc...

I have three miscellaneous wires that tap off the 24V side battery (the one that goes to the starter), I assume they're part of the toyota mechanic's shotty wiring. The truck was brought to them for head light issues when I first purchased it, the bill states all the wiring was done to the scehmatic diagram.... huh

So should I keep a close eye on this? Or check my batteries tomorrow and if they're still charged check again in a week and forget it?

I will post again after I check the batteries after sitting for a while!

all comments/questions are welcome

Use a tester and search where the draw is coming from?
