I introduced myself in the 80 tech section a couple weeks ago but thought it was time for the SoCal 80 section.

My name is Dan I live in San Diego and have owned my 80 for a little over a year. I am not planning on doing a lot of rock crawling so the mods have been kept close to stock, OME low lift, 265/75/16 BFG's etc. I will be adding sliders and doing the birf job in the next couple of months.

My hobbies include surfing, camping, fishing and searching Mud daily. I do a couple of baja surf trips a year and get out to Anza Borrego when possible.

Pic of recent trip to Baja.

Dan, welcome…:flipoff2:

A set of sliders opens up a ton of tails for these things. Hope to see you on one of our runs. I think we should do a Mex camp, wheel and surf trip, that would be a blast.

I don't surf but I would love to do a camping trip on the beach around Erendria. There is a great trail right along the water just North of Erendria that they used in the Baja 250 & 500 this year. And along that trail are tons of spots to pull off and camp right on the water.

Welcome from one of the founding members of the SoCal 80's;p

Maybe I will get to meet you one day.

I have camped and surfed at a spot just north of Erindira called Punta Cabras and it is a lot of fun. About 8 years ago I was there and the Baja 500 pre-run was happening and saw a lot of nice race trucks and an 80 series chase vehicle. That chase vehicle made my trip.

The pic in my intro is at a spot about 20 miles North of there.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

Welcome, glad to have you. :flipoff2:

Is that Quatros Casas or San Quintin maybe?

mmmmm

Cant be San Quintin, thats hours south of Erindira. Not sure about Quatros Casas, my guess is Punta san Jose. I second the erindira idea though. I have surfed some insane waves there on several trips. And that road that runs up the beach to the north always looked fun from what I could see. I have also surfed around san quintin, now that place has some serious set ups. THat trip would be an adventure. My father had been robbed down there a few times and since then we have not been going down to baja at all, but I would consider it again if we were going as a big group for safety reasons.

Anyhow welcome from a newb:cheers:

Yeah, that road runs from Erendira to Santo Tomas and there is one nice hill climb that my buddy and I did that could have been big trouble if we didn't make it up! There is a low road that you can skip the hill climb but it wouldn't be an adventure if you didn't attempt the climb. :D
It is going to start getting pretty cool, so I don't know if we could squeeze in this trip before the winter..... I know I am just focused on getting my bumper done and CB installed before Death Valley the end of next month.

The pic is at Punta San Jose and you do take the road from Santo Tomas which is fun. Just have to watch out for some of the local drivers who drive crazy on that road.

Quatro Casas is another 2 hours south of here and is a good trip also. Next time I can think about going down will be next spring.

It would probably help if I read it properly. Let alone there is no lighthouse at Quatros Casas. That will teach me to guess when I am that tired.

Welcome. A few years ago (10+)...a buddy and I made camp at a surf spot in Baja Sur called Punta Conejo (left point break)....surfed it a small 2-4 ft. but the spot looked like it had great potential....It was also cool having the Baja 500 rigs drive real close to our camp during our stay. (Don't remember how many times our Datsun 2wd truck got stuck in sand during that trip...part of the adventure, which took us all the way down into Michoacan via ferrie from La Paz to Mazatlan.

The best part, uncrowded waves and BIG OYSTERS that we could easily pluck from the reef and enjoy fresh or grilled.... I love Baja, too bad my trips are few and far between down there now.. Although, my goal is to make my LC "Baja Rigged" OTW Expedition ready!

It seems like quite a few of us are familiar with the Erendira area. I've only been there once, but it's a great getaway.

Next time I'm down there, I'm thinking clam bake.
