So after a year and a bit of wondering if I was ever going to be able to do it, I have now finally done it. So a few week my truck and my dads HZJ73 will be arriving in to Prince Rupert Via 40 foot container. I managed to convince my dad to take the plunge too. I am really excited to learn because i plan on importing in the future again (assuming everything works out ok).

Heres my HDJ81 VX Limited i am bringing over. Approx. 3 inch lift, 285/75/16 Yoko Geolanders, IPF HID lights, Electric Front, Rear, Center Diff locks, Factory Winch, Turbo Timer, Ice/Cooler center console, and a bunch of other goodies. Grade 4 with a B interior with 118,000k original kms.

The container was shipped on the 30th and should be docking up in Prince Rupert here on the 17th of Oct. It left Shanghai the other night. I am way to excited for this thing. Its my first vehicle.
I am going to be ripping off the bars under the rear bumper and running board and removing that goofy front bush guard. Anyone want a brush guard?

Gotta change the headlights, add the stupid DRL, a few reflectors but first and fore most after the inspection and registration are the BEBS. Got the filters and the Rotella T waiting now i just have to order the BEBS.

Future plans are to build a roof rack, sliders, and front and rear bumpers. I am really on the hunt for a set of OEM 80 series 16s.
The front end looks a bit low too so i might fab up a spacer.

I will post pictures and progress when the truck arrives.

Looks in pretty good shape. Wish we could import these to the states. What does it cost to ship and how much do the trucks run over there?

Welcome!:flipoff2: so it's from china?

i had a feeling they people were going to ask that.
No the shipping route to Prince Rupert managed to leave from Nagoya, Japan and go to Shanghai, China.
I was told it might leave from Nagoya and go to Tokyo or one of its sub-districts. But the next boat was going through shanghai on route to Rupert.

cool looking rig mate
looks like a oem rear tyre holder ay?

yeah it is. should be fine it has a 33 on the back.
I am not planning on 35s for the thing. Even though 35s would be nice, but a bit unnecessary;)

i H8U! lol, sweet import. Jealous!! Congrats.

Nice find. So was it difficult to find it in Japan, and to import?

Awesome!

How would it be to have your 1st vehicle to be a turbo-diesel cruiser with lockers and the fridge/freezer!

Congrats!

i contacted several people but nobody gave me the time of day mainly because i was getting it shipped to prince rupert. Everyone gets their trucks shipped to Vancouver. Turns out i will be the pioneer of importing trucks in Prince Rupert. I will have the third HDJ81 in town though.

the work hdj80 i cruise around in each day has 35's and std diff gears still go's well

that is a great looking truck! what year is it, and who is the supplier?

That looks like a beautiful truck man. I imported my own about 2 1/2 years ago, and it was a great move on my part. Check out my ROTF for the long story on that one (in my sig line)

2 1/2 years later mine's got front and rear bumpers, sliders, a big a** skid plate underneath (just finished yesterday, pics to come) and lots of bush pinstriping. Mine was also a gr 4/B, but she was meant to be used, and she gets used well. I'll take it anywhere as long as I won't damage the body.

Anyway, I'll be looking for more pics when it arrives. I know your excitement. If you're ever in the lower mainland let me know you're coming and we can go for coffee or go wheelin'

FB: A couple of sweet rigs! I really like the 73's colour! And thats one clean HDJ.
When your importing/inspection process is complete, can you post the importers name, and possibly where the trucks resided in Japan?
Are the service records included? (Sometimes difficult to get from Japan).
Would also be interested in knowing how the government side of it goes for you up on the North Coast!
Let us know when you cruise down to the lower Mainland!

Cheers
Gord
