Snorkles for the FJ-55, So what is the story on the lack of snorkles for the FJ-55. Here is a vehicle from the factory with venting designed for shnorkler yet no commercial pig snouts seem available. I especially like the idea of snorkin my fresh air intake. It would be nice to be able to see out the cabin through all the dust from the roads and ditches that my pig decides it wants to rut through. Durn piggy go where it wants but we always end up at a place we both wanna be, hows that, guess that'll do little piggy that'll do

dieselcruiserhead put a Safari snorkel from a 70 series on his old Cummins 4BT powered FJ55. It looked really nice. There is a pic around here somewhere of it.

build your own, a little pvc is all you need.

All ya need is a little PVC and a dryer vent from the Home Depot :)

Thanks dieselcruiserhead and Dusty 66 and everyone. I like both suggestions, I am going to look at the 70 snorkel, maybe go with the homedepot option, sounds more ecenomically feasable. I just don't like the fact that the cabin fresh air intake draws air from inside the fender area. Just about the most dusty area possible. Hey, what is that pig doing on that trailer? bad piggy, get down from there.

So $360 for a safari snorkel when a home made PVC contraption would accomplish the same thing? I guess if I had a real pretty rig I would go with a real snorkel but for mine PVC would do. The black PVC snorkel doesn't look half bad

Closeups of the "Home Depot special" (man i miss that pig :frown: )

Here was some thoughts from Dan Kunz, a previous owner of the pig.

If I remember correctly, when Patrick Wilson (of 4x4 Customs here in GA) built that snorkel on FJBen's truck we used PVC for the pass through. We simply put PVC elbows with a smaller diameter straight piece through the vent plate DS fender. The hose is from an Astrovan. The outer is all Astrovan and PVC with a ghetto dryer vent top (which works great!)The dryer vent approach works because it can basically be replaced at any hardware store, anywhere! The way it is screwed in allowed for the same condensation runs for rain, etc that the safaris allow in their models.
