Snorkel 2H motor (non turbo) (1 Viewer)

Greetings all,

I was reading the thread on making your own snorkel, and thought I would ask for opinions on a related subject. I am considering a snorkel for my stock 2H motor, but would like to know if it will really make any sort of improvement in performance. My thinking is that the the air ram on the top of the Safari snorkel will shove more air into the combustion chamber, especially at high speeds, thus decreasing soot output, and boosting hill climbing ability, but is there really a noticeable difference?

Whoa, isn't this a super charger your thinking of...

but is there really a noticeable difference?

No. It looks cool and is good for high water crossing and maybe lower dust levels(in a very dusty climate)

The more bends and length you put in any intake system the less air is going to make it unless you increase the dia. . Not to bad for turboed engines but hell on the norm

Did mine for the cool air intake...and the looks. And I like to listen to the intake growl that comes out of the snorkel ram as I step on the throttle.

I have a Safari snorkel fitted to my HJ60. I put it on for doing water crossings. I didn't notice any benefits in power at all.

the snorkel isn't going to give you any ram air effect. it might lower the intake temperature, a little.
it will help reduce dust (especially with a prefilter) and water.
They look cool and are a GREAT place to hand a towel to dry after surfing.

Well, it sounds like the Safari snorkel is officially out! Thanks for all of your input, and experience on the matter. I guess that is $250 - $300 I can spend on something else, like putting diesel in my tanks!
