You guys caught me. Yep, I'm an Engine Noob. I shouldn't be let near the engine. All I've done in my life is take stuff apart. Don't really need to know what stuff is when you do that eh?

I'm just messing around right now. You guys are the experts fo sho!

I have to go put up a Canopy today nwcanopies.com and set up for a Picnic in the park tonight. Then I've got My RV rented till the 15th (gotta get that all set up for the renter) so The 60 won't see any love this weekend.

Just keep going, but don't think your just gonna jerk the head off. it's not hard, but takes some time. I was blowin some serious smoke, and I had no business taking my engine apart, but I'm sure glad I did. My head was cracked at #2 so I acquired a new head, new valves and springs(at the machine shop $175) , new gaskets, cleaned, cleaned, and put it back together, I think I spent $1000 on everything, I could have spent more, but that's all I could hide from my wife( and I told her I only spent 135 for the head).

So, No. 5 has the bent valve(s)... Based on the plug, it does not look like No. 6 has been fireing for quite some time... This can ruin the ring, cylinder wall sealing... However, the compression is highest in No. 6... Assuming the head is sealing, 2,3,4 are low... You might want to think about freshing up those cylinders..

The head is going to have to come off for sure. Then the problem should reveal itself. There is still hope for a simple solution, like a head rebuild, or, more involved but still on the simple side, you may have to drop the oil pan and remove the #5 piston and rod assembly, hone the cylinder, replace the rings and/or piston if the cylinder looks to be ok. It's a tractor motor, longevity is one of its preeminent characteristics (along with being slow) so it would not surprise me if it comes back around with minimal input.

What looks out of place to me are cylinders one and six. Those other numbers look fine for an old 2F. With the exception of number five of course.

Yea, One can hope! Head is almost off, It will be off by 10pm and I record some crazy suburban redneck video of the damage.

1. Head bolts on, feel like they were never removed
2. Exhaust/intake nuts/bolts 2 tight, rest were loose!
3. Exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe only held on by one bolt
4. Many bolts/nuts loose as I tear into it.

I'm very glad that I'm doing this, I think someone was already in here (not to the head) and was trying to diagnose it and just temporarily put it back together.

:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce: Excited to get this head out finally.

Take a look at this thread. The thing near the #5 spark plug is on the outside of the cylinder head. I highly recommend it gets tapped and a plug installed. The factory solution was something just shoved in the hole.

Sorry if I confused you before. Hope you have a 2F engine manual :)

Great thread, never heard of that, but will check it out after the head is out. I'll make sure I get to this as well to avoid any future weeping.

Good good. Standing by for redneck video

So I just ripped the head out after lifting the truck 2 feet off the ground with the garage hoist.... well kinda.

I didn't dissasemble the valve train so I bent a few rods getting this sucker out. Well its out and here is the diagnostic. I think we were all right.

You might see more in this video than I do.

What do you think I should do? I can go chop another tree down fo sho!

That poor cylinder wall. Ouch.

Intake/ Exhaust gasket. You're correct once again :)

I have no idea what is going on with that shackle. It looked like there was a broken piece on the end and then that other thing was just shoved on there. Is the other side like that too?

same on the other side.

I cannot wait to see this thing at future meetings. I didn't read you name at first and started watching the video. I had to do a double take once I saw the driveway/your 80, haha. Good luck on this one, sounds like an interesting project for sure.

Boat ancor that puppy.
There are plenty of used 2F motors around to run or rebuild.

I vote paint it some obnoxious color and use it for potted plants in your yard :hillbilly:

I already have a "Toyota Landcruiser" emblem on my mailbox. The engine would make a great base for a portable grinder table. Weld some casters on it and weld up some pipe and throw a grinder up top.

Could also get me about $30 in scrap too!

I'm going to rip the front end off this morning and keep going till I find a good engine to go in.

Try to un-ghetto fab this rig while I'm in there and clean it up a tad. If you know of anyone in the PNW with a good engine, let me know.

Need to call Torfab and order up a H55 now. My goal is to have this thing driveable in 6 months.

That shackle is bull****! The things some people do.
Body looks good,if you got it cheap good on ya.
