Smog pump bearings finally seized yesterday. Luckily, it happened as I was pulling out of my apartment parking lot.

It was a result of the classic leaky PS pump dripping directly on top of the smog pump pulley/bearings.

My truck is completely de-smogged, so essentially it has been a big idler for the past six months.

I found Toyota # 16630-61020, which is stock on the 3F. $57.00 and will be here tomorrow from my local stealership.

Will keep you all updated if it works.

It would probably be a relatively cheap insurance policy just to have one in your trail kit, if your smog pump ever shats the bed.

Will keep everyone posted.

would love to know if this is a viable solution

Sure looks good. Hope you can make it work.

yeah my smog pump had a catastrophic failure 2 days after I had my carb rebuilt. There was zero warning and my PS wasn't leaking. It just locked and the belt smoked really bad. Found a good core and had it rebuilt for $160.00. Its almost a grand for new. What a joke.

Which holes? The ones for the vanes? I've tried to find those bearing #'s but only to first one 6203-2RS shows up on a search at bearing sellers.

The holes being the ones that are used to mount the smog pump. The tensioning bracket off a 3FE does not line up. I have even swapped the engine mount trying to get it to work.

Sorry Fellas...doesn't even come close to lining up....

went with a GM alternator instead

while in the process of rebuilding my p/s pump i managed to open up my smog pump and inspect inside,to my surprised the stuff i found.small amount of atf (from p/spump),gravel,sand etc.i cleaned it up real good including the vanes and loaded up the bearings w/ grease and reassemble, after install i made sure that the belt wasn't to tight.it was much more quiter now and you can hear it pump some air.:bounce::bounce2:

If your smog stuff is gone then this is the best way to go. Get an added benefit for your hard work.
