Hello , searched and couldn’t find the answer so reaching out to the group... I am in the process of installing a Redarc BCDC in my 2006 100 LC and it has an option to accommodate or not a ”smart” or variable voltage alternator. Does anyone know for certain if the 2006 LC has a “smart” alternator or not?

thank you all!

99.5% sure it is not a smart alternator. The alternator in the 100 series uses a simple feedback voltage to regulate the output.

I LOL at my smart BMW charging system. You register the battery into the car's system and it takes into account the battery's age, capacity, temperature, state of charge, etc. They even put the battery in the trunk where it is cool, away from the engine compartment. The thing goes through batteries at least twice as fast as the 100's dumb charging system and standard lead acid battery.
