When you know your 80's issue so well you can time a state inspection between check engine lights by watching the weather and avoiding mid throttle cruising on the way to the shop only to see the CEL light 3 miles up the road after the shop with a Pass in hand.

I count the luck I had choosing a 1994 as a victory. Passed inspection with the CEL lit up like Vegas Xmas.

That's good to know. I thought the CEL still had to be off even though it wasn't an OBD2 truck. Nice!
