sliding ragtop & machinegun ring

Hey folks. It is time to arm my 80 series but it will be harder than the machinegun ring I mounted to my BJ-42.

I am looking at slidingragtop.com for a rear sunroof. The 35"x35" size will be about the same size as the ring mount.

Do any of you have experience with these tops? Do they leak?

yep...

I am getting ready for a machinegun shoot on July 2. This truck is getting an M240. Big fun...

Yes, I also hog hunt with these gun trucks.

Wow! I wish my 80 had a 240 on it.
Seems like ring mount would work great on a low profile full length roof rack and would add the needed structural support for all that weight and recoil.

That sliding rag top is pretty slick too. Seems like there would be enough room to do this right over the rear cargo area. Would probablly have to mount the ragtop in reverse though but a wind deflector on the front of the roof rack would block the wind from messing with the folded top.

You could even make a standing platform on top of rear cargo drawers.

hollow

The truck is hollowed out except for the front seats so the entire back is open and good to go. I will mount the ring so that the muzzle is not over the glass sun roof. I have limiter built into the mount that will not allow the gun to tilt forward enough to shoot the cab.

I am looking at different towers. Gobi will not sell just the towers but Gamiviti sells them in sets of 4,6 or 8. Does anyone have experience with these towers?

Please post pics of your build. I'm sure there would be some others who are interested too.

YO

No, the YO was in May. Here is a link to me shooting one of my M240s there.

All us Texans own 2 or 3 guns! :)

Some of us Canucks own more than that!

No gun mount on the 80 though... Gotta keep 'em inside!:hillbilly:

Grumpy Azz

Man, it sounds like you need a BJ more than any grumpy azz in history.

If you must know it is habit from posting on Steelsoldiers. I always put my number because we pass around a lot of technical info and I have an open door to anyone with questions about the trucks or APCs.

If you want a kick azz mount Dillion makes some nice mounts but they won't have it ready by July. If I had a 240 I would go in on a group buy with you.

I'm going to guess this was aimed (pardon the pun) at birfmark... I on the other hand would love a BJ. Even a 42 or a 60.:D

ordered

Ok I ordered the sliding ragtop. Spoke with Rick and he seems to be a good guy. He also sells nice LED lights to the .gov folks. My job at NASA came up during our conversation and he said that his lights are on our lunar rover at the Johnson Space Center. He also put the rag tops on the Pinzies in the Thor movie. I hope the quality of his top is what I am expecting.

I have a street rod shop ready to put it in when it arrives. I live in the shop on the weekends but I know my limit and delicate trim is it. I will leave this one to the pros.

In the interim I am working on the ring mount. More to come.

I personally would not mount a gun on my rig, but am proud to live in a country where a man has a right to. God Bless America!
