Decided to start a thread instead of hijacking romer's thread :flipoff2:

My question about the steps and the tube sliders is this: Would the steps keep you from doing certain trails in certain situations or is it just that the steps scrape more often then the tubes? Also, looking on Slee's site it shows that both the sliders and the tubes will only fit 93-97, would it fit an FJ80?

Everyone knows that 91-92's rule, so they have to try to improve the 93-97's by offering spiffy additions. The FJ80's only have the relay issue, but no rear heater hose issues, no wet starter engine dying, no starter contacts crapping out, no missing center diff switches, etc. etc. :D So, as a result, we are treated like Cinderella for having misunderstood, beautiful rides. :D

With this in mind, we of the FJ ilk often have to customize what's available for the FZJ boys. The 91-92 cat setup differs from the 93-94 side by side, which differs from the 95-97 inline cats. As a result, the slider placement on the frame rails differs. You will not likely find off the shelf sliders. I believe that Slee has made a set or two with the trucks onsite, but I may be mistaken. You will likely need to get to a shop, or have a local set fabbed. Call Slee, Hanna, and a few of the local known slider fab artists. Somebody may have made and kept templates.

As for the steps, people with a short Ole' Lady won't be able to get her into the truck without the stock running boards, so a solution was invented to allow the mod to occur. Make a slider wider for the War Department to get into the truck. The tucked under tubes allow a little more clearance but don't serve as steps for the kids and wifey. The sliders keep the rocks from bending your rockers into the bottom of the doors. This allows you to continue opening the doors, rather than getting in Dukes of Hazard style through the window, but seeing as how you are in Texas, you probably get in that way already. :D Ye Haw!

Of course here in TX everyone enters there vehicle by jumping in the window..Just afraid the lift might make it a tad bit harder :flipoff2:

So basically I have to mod the sliders from slee....

I found some that marlincrawler made for the FJ80 :D. Only deal is you mount the braket in the spot then have to weld another piece to it that the slider bolts to. Looks like I'll be doing that when the time comes.

You're gonna have to look at Romer's thread for my answer to your question...

I'm not gonna type all that up again...

I looked up the thread from Romer's thanks for the info doug :D

--Main question was about slee's sliders not fitting an FJ80.

I dunno, looks like sharkboy just likes to chat.

I have a step style slider on my 97 and I like the fact it sticks out more for wheeling. They make great pivot points. Place against rock, lock rear, tap go and the rear pivots right around. :D Sometimes a great way to get over a 2 step ledge etc. They all have pluses and minuses. It's about what fits your situation best. :flamingo:

Then again, I just like to be close to the rocks :D

Granite can opener... Another good use for sliders. Keep the can closed. I wouldn't try to buy another design to adapt. Call around. Somebody may have the specs lying around to fab a set. That or have a local shop whip up a set. Ask the locals in your 4x club where they get theirs locally. You shouldn't have any problem getting a set for a reasonable rate.

I agree with Junk (gawd I hate saying that...)

I'll take a slider that sticks out more and keeps you off things.
Most of the East Coast guys I wheel with agree.

And the pivot point thing rocks! makes some things soooo easy...

Yeah I am in the process of trying to figure out what to buy before GSMTR. I have narrowed it down to either the step slee sliders or tube slee sliders, or hanna sliders. I think I am going with the step sliders because of the reasons above and slee has some that are ready to be shipped unlike the tubes.

Call them and verify what they have in stock. I stated this before, but YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE AN OPTION (loud enough for ya?)

And if you want to be sure you have them in GA in time for GSMTR, you might want to call and order soon.

Yeah norcal already done that. That is what I just said. Can you read? They have the step sliders ready to go. The tubes will be 3 more weeks.

Oh no. Are you serous? I need sliders soo bad before GSMTR and David said that he talked to you last week. Please say your joking!

Can I read? Yeah...been reading for twice as long as you've been in existence Sparky.

Like I said. Call and verify.

Quit yakking, and order something soon if you want them soon.

Talking about it ain't gonna do much...

No Bailey I won't quit yaking. I am pissed off. And you would be too if you were in my shoes. I have been acting upon this situation for months now and I am at my breaking point and tired of people getting on my case about it. I ordered my sliders through David from some local guy in Georgia which I paid for and he never called David back and I was waiting for about 2 months for these when they were suppose to come in a week. So then we all decided to go to slee to get some before GSMTR which is mid May because I can't afford getting body damage. Then David said that there were sliders available that are steps but not tubes. So then that is where we had communication problems I guess because I thought David reserved me some. Well oh well it is not Davids fault at all or mine. It is bad things happening in order. Now it doesn't look like I will have sliders. Well screw it. Today sucked because not only will I not have sliders I am getting bitched at by people on here for things I am not saying cause some douchebag is getting on my name. Well sorry I know this is tech but I had to vent here. So Bailey for once you stop Yakking. I have been working hard to get these sliders on there and it isn't happening so lay off.

Have another cup o'spresso and settle down a bit eh?

Hey Stuck.

Please do me a personal favor and keep the d-bag stuff for chat ok, please. Over there it's pretty much bombs away, but folks have requested to try to keep the tech somewhat respectable. Keep in mind that not logging off leaves you logged in and it could be more of an issue than just 1 post here on this site.

Also, I don't know how you do business, and I'm not speaking for David nor Christo, but both are great businessmen and superlative folks. So before you start getting hopped up about something not being reserved (assuming no cash trading hands etc) and think about poppin off over here, I'd encourage you to take a drink of H20 and come back a lil while later before you post.
