Yes, exactly, and the tailgate will be the door for the storage ‘tunnels’
How long did it take you to do this? Also What type of wood did you use for the platform?

I have nightmares of trying to make precise cuts with wood, but I think I have to do this to bring the cruiser to the next level of comfyness.

I had a carpenter friend do it. He did not keep track of his time, but I dropped it off with him on 5/7 and I picked it up yesterday 5/26. He worked on it in his spare time but was on another job at the same time.
We used mid grade plywood, 3/4” and today I started covering it with carpet.

I did it! This is where we are today and we will be adding carpet today or tomorrow. So excited to have this project wrapping up!
Thanks @stusic for your plans and thank you @84T4R for your adjustments/ideas. I appreciate the shared information…

We decided to build two boxes for the second row. We did not hinge the top pieces, yet. We’ll see if the cubbies with side access from rear doors will satisfy us.

Anchored the front of the big box using existing bold holes and we decided to use the nubs for the carpet to secure the box to as well.
