Yes, exactly, and the tailgate will be the door for the storage ‘tunnels’
How long did it take you to do this? Also What type of wood did you use for the platform?

I have nightmares of trying to make precise cuts with wood, but I think I have to do this to bring the cruiser to the next level of comfyness.

I had a carpenter friend do it. He did not keep track of his time, but I dropped it off with him on 5/7 and I picked it up yesterday 5/26. He worked on it in his spare time but was on another job at the same time.
We used mid grade plywood, 3/4” and today I started covering it with carpet.

I did it! This is where we are today and we will be adding carpet today or tomorrow. So excited to have this project wrapping up!
Thanks @stusic for your plans and thank you @84T4R for your adjustments/ideas. I appreciate the shared information…

Used existing bolt holes to anchor the box down.

We decided to build two boxes for the second row. We did not hinge the top pieces, yet. We’ll see if the cubbies with side access from rear doors will satisfy us.

Anchored the front of the big box using existing bold holes and we decided to use the nubs for the carpet to secure the box to as well.

Here we used the second row seat bolt holes to secure the two smaller boxes for second row area.

Any idea how much it all weighs?

Not much. Two sheets of plywood and some wood for the legs.
We lifted out and it was not heavy at all, I was surprised. But we also did not do the solid bottom so that cut out more weight.
And it’s easy to remove.

The boxes that go over the second row seats were not heavy either.

Big one like 40-50lbs ?

Looks Awesome!! Reminds me of the KISS one I got for my 80 back in the day and has worked out great. @stusic any chance you can do plans for a 60 series? I would love to go a more budget friendly route instead of an "air down gear up" type baller option.

I was able to find a plastic tote that fit mine to get me by until I figured out what I wanted to do. Been going strong for 18 years.

Cool. Is this a permanent set up or do you ever plan to use rear seats again?

I have the second row seats if we do ever want to use them and it’s set up so we can remove the two smaller boxes where the seats go. The big box in the back will be more permanent and can still be used with the second row.

I have been looking at shipping containers as well. I found a guy on here that is actually about an hour away and he had a set up in his 100 and I’m snagging those totes as he’s sold his platform and was stuck with the containers.

I bet that will be us in 20 yrs!
