Yes, there is an outer and inner screen... since the screen is more like a sock that slides around the window frame there is overlap (inner and outer).

I think if people saw them up close they would be upset if they purchased them since the construction is super simple (after all, I made them and I am far from handy). Fishing line, duct tape, magnet strip and a screen is all it is... I would feel like a crook selling these things.

I installed them last week and took the wagon on the highway to see if they would stay put, they did. The magnet strip did not keep the screen afixed to the door though but the screen did not budge (but the bottom did do some flapping in the wind). I am not sure when/why I would ever need to go 70mph with screens in but I had nothing better to do that day. I thought of making a better looking design that was not as rough in appearance, perhaps with a 'TEQ' logo painted on the screen or something as well.

Edit... the :princess: told me to sell as many as I can. :p

Love this idea! I have sliding rear windows in the cargo area like alaksa60, but unfortunately mine didn't come with any screens (though for the price I paid, they probably should have). Anyone ever tried or seen a DIY screen job on the sliding rear windows? Any lead would be much appreciated.

i got a set of slider windows for the cargo area windows in the rear. They came from from CR Lawerence products. i got them back in 1999. They came with the sliding window and screens. It is so nice in Alaska watching the hungry misquitoes trying to get in and wishing they could. I think I paid about 200 bucks for them and they have never leaked or not performed. i love them. I do like the price of the quick screen though.

Same here. Absolutely love mine. I open them in the spring and leave them open all summer long.

Wish I'd seen (or thought) of the solution in this thread years ago before I had my sliding windows. Really nice and inexpensive.

it might be discussed here...somewhere. Why not make your own screen frame ...maybe an inch or so shorter than the window opening when the window is rolled all the way down. Make the screen like an "insert"...where you could gently roll the window up to pinch the frame overnight..them remove in the AM or when you move the truck after setup for camping.

Yes...I know this is an old thread....

This fella made a frame that fit exactly into his window of his XJ. But you could easily make a frame shorter like you're suggesting...
