I am about to order the SLEE Old Man EMU kit and can't decide between 1.5" or 2.5"

I don't do any offroading (I wish I had time) and want to keep stock tires. Am I better off with the 1.5"?

ALWAYS GO BIGGER!!!

For the same price go 2.5 better resale (guessing here) and maybe it will make you find time for some wheeling

the 1.5" might mean you don't need to do the Diff drop ..... planning to do TB's or just crank the stockers ? Shocks ?

more then the 1.5 and the stock tires start to look funny...

Just curious, are these measurements (1.5" and 2.5") the distance higher than stock/normal the truck will sit?

If so, I always thought the AHC High setting on my LX was enough lift, and assume it is closer to 1.5" vs 2.5". Anything higher looks like a red neck's truck (not that there is anything wrong with red necks).

If you don't wheel it and plan on keeping the stock tires, I'd personally just crank the TB and call it a day.

I'm in the same situation, the AHC on my LX470 is almost gone. So am planning on the Slee 1.5" lift kit, including diff drop, not planning to run anything bigger than my 265/R75/16 BFG ATs. I do off road, but nothing technical, just some bad Colorado roads chasing elk.

Slee is installing a 1.5" kit in my LX470 in a few weeks. I went with this because I wanted progressive springs and I also happen to think 1.5" is plenty for my needs. Since they're also doing the UCAs and the diff drop, it would be pretty trivial to do something different in the future if I change my mind.

TB?

Torsion bars. Search for "cranking torsion bars" and you will find far more information than you need. With right socket and long breaker bar, it's not very difficult.

^THIS^

My guess is, if you have either the 1.5" or 2.5" lift installed with stock tires, you'll stand back and think "Wow. Those tires look kind of silly. The truck will look like it's tiptoeing.

Are you just looking to "de-minivan" the 100, e.g. make it look more like the truck Toyota intended? Maybe flip the plan - spend the money on tires, and leave the suspension stock, and crank the TB a bit as LEX suggested.

For reference, the 100 on the right is 100% stock. The 100 on the left is stock with about .75" worth of TB crank, 275/70/18s and no running boards.

The guy at slee said 1.5" is same as running AHC in neutral (middle setting). I definitely don't want my vehicle looking silly.

It's hard for me to actually say SLEE is wrong, but my LX470 in "n" sits at the exact height as the 03 Toyota that my buddy owns. We park next to each other at work sometimes. No difference. When I set it in the "H" setting I'm about 1.5"-2" taller then him. If the N setting was 1.5" taller then the stock yota then the H setting would be 3-4" taller and I can guarantee it is not.

I believe that's what he was saying. It will sit at the exact same height in N setting.

I called the slee representative right now and he said it will be pretty close to Neutral setting with 1.5" kit. It should be really close to within a fraction of an inch.

Awesome, that's what I'm looking for.

That's just not correct. If that were true, then either a) a 2.5" lift only is really only a 1" lift over stock (and then why would it be called a 2.5" lift kit?) or b) LX470s are 1.5" taller in N than a Land Cruiser. Neither of those is statements are true.

I have to agree with TexasCrane, that info is just flat out wrong. A stock LX470 in "N" does NOT sit any higher then a stock yota. If there is any difference it would be in the fractions of an inch and not 1.5". The LX470 on the "H" setting would be REALLY close to a 1.5" SLEE lift.
