Yeah, I noticed the safety knobs, but thought a lock mechanism would be ideal (and a PITA every time you want to swing).

On another note - all the future attachment features are based on having the ladder - is that correct? I am particularly interested in Roto Pax attachment.

How about replace the safety pin with a door lock solenoid and hook it up to the factory keyless entry. :grinpimp:

I read a post by Christo that indicated that would be the case. The ladder swing-out was designed with and includes mounting holes for future accessories.

With that said, if enough people ask, I'm sure Christo could make a swing-out minus ladder but with accessories mounts.

I know some people don't like the ladder, but I like it more now that I have it on and being able to add things to it is a plus. Dual swing outs can be a pain, but it's also not that bad. If you really wanted to, you can remove the entire arm fairly easily.

^ agree, I like the ladder too but not sure how often I would actually climb it since I can reach anything stored on the roof from just the bumper or sliders.

a ladder per se is not exactly a must have for me. Even though I use my roof rack a lot I'm not actually up there much and don't think I would be even with a readily available ladder.

However, as a modular base for a bunch of accessories it could become an attractive proposition.

Plus it has the cool Landrover safari look that so many here crave despite strong denials... :)

loud,
Where can you find one of these cameras?

I sort of feel the same way about the ladder on both counts:

1) The attachments would certainly be nice, but that turns it into something that's not a ladder any longer... at least I'm assuming that you won't be able to hang three jerry cans off the thing and still climb it. That being said, I'm sure Christo and his crew are imagineering some clever attachment mechanism that gives you the best of both worlds

2) The one disadvantage of the 100 is that in its stock form it doesn't exactly differentiate itself from other mall utility vehicles like the previous generations of LC's.

I do get tired of using my best Arnold Schwarzenegger Kindergarten Cop voice to say:

It's not a Sequoia!!! :bang:

The first attachment we will have is a simple basket that can take 3 cans (or whatever) and can bolt to the mid or lower wrung, depending on need.

We will also look into the Roto jerry cans. I emailed them for info off the site (was on a weekend) but did not get a reply. I will call in the week.

I would still like to do a can holder that still retains the ladder part. That has always been my gripe with ladders and cans but it is really difficult to get aound that issue.

The ladder with predrilled rungs were what we made to do this. Not sure what a swing-out with accessory mounts would be. Any ideas?

Our thought was that the ladder is functional, gives the tallest and sturdiest place to mount stuff. Not sure how else we could do it

I use a hitch haul rack to carry a large cooler. From the pics of the bumper, it looks like the tire extends pretty far back and will likely interfere with the cooler's position on the rack. Do you know if a hitch haul type rack carrying something large is feasible with a tired mounted on the bumper?

that all depends on the length of the hitch coupler of the basket. I guess one can extend it, but that would put a lot of strain on it. Or offset the cooler to the one side.

I'm going to have the same issue with my hitch mount bike rack... from the profile shots of Christo's rig, it "looks" like the extension you need is at least the width of your tire.

I thought about extending it if needed, however loaded with frozen meat would put a lot of strain on it. Offsetting isn't an option as the cooler is pretty much as long as the hitch haul.

I guess the only two options would be to put the tire on the roof or back under the truck (is under the truck still an option with the bumper installed?).

There is MORE room under there with the slee bumper installed then OEM bumper and tow hitch. OEM setup you can only fit a 33ish tire under there, with the slee bumper you can fit a 35".

Chinaman Gulch? Just traded my Wrangler for a 100...This is an obstacle I was hoping the rear bumper would clear...

Yup, drove it last march. I ran it with a lifted big wheeled wrangler, another 100(farinvail) and a tacoma. I had no problem getting up that, the jeeps short wheel base made for an buttpuckering climb. There was another spot I got a little wedged in, make sure you have a rear bumper for that spot!!!

Was planning on sliders and locking the front and rear before any other mods, but I'm now thinking bumpers may be the place to start...

I see on the Slee website that the bumpers aren't rated for towing? Bought the cruiser to tow snowmobiles. Would this be a problem w/ the Slee bumper?

No way of getting my old YJ up the waterfall with all four on the ground...

PS...Chinaman's not the proper nomanclature dude.
