2008 Early Cruiser Meet?

I'm attempting to make plans to get out to see John#1 in Arizona next year. My thoughts range from a cross country drive in the 25 to attend CM08...............to trailering it out and just hitting some trails with John................or to just flying out, filling a U-Haul with rust free parts, and driving back.

So anyhow, is anyone interested in a skinny wheel meet in 2008? Post up some ideas if you are. I think it would be really fun to hit the trail with a group of bone stock early cruisers: 25's, 40's, 45's......................... :grinpimp:

Or you guys can all just come up to New England next fall!

I am in for CM08...don't know what I will be in but I will be there. I might be able to get the week after off also.

I'll bring the 64 and line up some easier trails for bone stockers. I'd be a hoot for some real old cruiser iron in moab.

Drive the 25 all the way out to AZ:eek: Hey Jim I want some of what your smoking, must be some good stuff. I had thought about driving the 25 from the cabin to Moab and have my son drive the 100 with trailer full of stuff to take back east if you didn't have enough time to drive down to AZ. But that was with a chase vehicle and a trip that is probably under three hundred miles. Of course you could get a good tread going on mud about your trip and all the stops along the way. What your time frame for this 2-3 months:rolleyes:

A good lead time would help so we can get as many as possible to come. I do have one of those goverment jobs and my vacation time is limited. I think I'm down to under four months on the books:rolleyes:

Well heck, I was going to change the cam gear and balance the tires! Should only be a couple days on the road............. John, I've got a couple months from work, but the family is another story. ;)

What's the thought on a date, just meet at CM08......... or before..........or after? April 30th sounds awful close, maybe the fall might be better, I hear it gets hot in the summer. Wes, were you talking about lining up trails to go along with CM?

I'm not too awful social, so after a week on the road I may not be up for attending a big event. :crybaby:

I think your first time in moab you'd probably love checking out all the cruisers/ buggys etc and see what the trails are really all about. The weekend before there is a hot rod show in town that is fun too. I do enjoy the first half of the week more though. Still alot of cruisers and you can go out and run trails really quick and still get back to town and relax and see sights if you want to. I might be tempted to go out in october too but that really interferes with hunting times out here. It's a great time and not to hot. I think people on the fence might be more apt to bring out a stocker if other are too to cm.

I might be on the fence about this year now that I think about it. There is a contingent of rising sunners that want to go out to rubithon. Once I get back from elk hunting i'm going to finish up my turbo install, see how it runs and then i'll know about going out to rubithon. If that is the case I may only spend a couple days in moab this year.

know anyone with a double car trailer Jim? Wonder if two 25's would fit on my 18 ft trailer somehow? I'd love to get mine out west also....

Driving the 25 there would be fun though :D

I could load yours on the trailer with spares and tow it with mine. We could rotate them as things fail................:D
Double trailer might be possible, tow rig would be another story. I wonder what terminal-terminal shipping would run, might be the same as fuel/road costs.

I think if you lay them on their sides you could get them on the 18' trailer.:D Then on the trip home you could just stack another one on top. I could pickup shipped vehicles in Phoenix or Flagstaff if that helps.

If you can't make it in the spring fall might be a better bet, as it does get a little warm in the southwest during the summer. of course your welcome to stay with with us before or after. I should have this house thing all dealt with by then. Made another offer on a house yesterday. Maybe we will go thru with fhis one. If it does I will have a shop to get the axles switched in the 25 and all tuned up for the trail. Even have the skinny wheels on it by then.

John

My '62 FJ40 probably wouldn't qualify as a "runner" being that it is getting a 3F w/auto and might not be done by then, but if "John were to sell me one of his 25's that I could get going in a hurry I'd love to join you fellows.:)

good luck you guys, anyone know who bought those doors from MASS. that were on E-Bay?

Not me, but you've got a PM. And I heard that 40 was just about mint, what'd you do to it?

I am still working on my self inflicted goal of getting a 25 to CM08....a top is the least of my worries!

My machineist just laughs at our mission to get (count 'em) more than two running 25s together....someday.

So maybe I should work a little faster than you originally said you had time for?

;p

I'm on the fence about taking the 45 to CM'08, but if you're planning to bring the 25, I will do it fo sho!

So Mike are you planning on just being able to drive your 25 again when you get it back from VT or are you planning on driving it at CM08? If you and Phil make it there with 25s I guess I'll really have to try and make it. Phil I did have two 25s running at one time but that was years ago. Now I going to have to work just to get one running again:frown:

John

Phil, fly out here with one of those big machines and pick up my two, they'd be ready, but that's the only way they'll make it out to CM08........ :crybaby:

Sooo...project Two Speed is roadworthy enough to cruise the streets of Moab and hit the bunny slope, it even has plates. The planets are aligned properly and gas will never be this cheap again. Will I have company or am I the lone SW08 "Year of the 25: Out of the Woodwork" rep?

Phil, Fins and Things is a PUBLIC trail, and I am scheduled to be out there Saturday.;)

As of this moment, I am planning on taking the 40, so skinny tire-ed I will not be.
