I don't know why this is so hard to find, all of the skid plate bolts on the lx470 are 8x1.25 and roughly one inch long, all of mine were exceptionally difficult to use and some of them I could not thread this 8x1.25 tap work perfectly and I was able to thread all of my new bolts in without any tools

Removing & reinstalling my skid plates is by far the worst part of any work I do underneath. My bolts have been manhandled by untold number of ham-fisted techs. All the threads seem to be different.
hahaha, i was feeling the same way, use this tap and now i can thread them all in by hand

All but 3 bolts have twisted off in the welded nuts in my frame. I keep telling myself that it would be worth it to drill and retap.

Wanted to bump up this thread, as I did this today and it was VERY satisfying.

I'm not sure why this doesn't come up more often, as even my nearly rust free CA LX470 had skid plate and undercover bolts that barely wanted to come out. I was really surprised when I first took them off and needed an impact for some of them. I thought that just working the bolt in and out with some oil would clean up the threads for the nuserts, but no way. I even bought new bolts thinking that would do the trick, and nope, still hard as can be to get them in.

So I found this thread and also this one (Cleaning rusty nutserts? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/cleaning-rusty-nutserts.681411/) and even though some say to get chasers instead of tap/die, I was able to pick up a cheap-ish tap/die set from amazon.

IT WORKED GREAT! The bolts go in and out like butter now. SO SATISFYING!

Just be careful, go slow, and use lots of oil. And just for reference, it is a M8 1.25 pitch thread.
