Size of four water pump bolts on a 2F?

I'm replacing my water pump tomorrow. I need to buy new hardware before I drive to my garage which is about 40 mins away not near any stores that sell hardware. One bolt is completely missing and one is broken off. The broken one is longer than the other three and has an unthreaded section that accommodates a spacer and an adjuster arm for a power steering pump or alternater.

Who can tell me the correct size to buy?

So I just found out more info. The water pump has 3 - 4T bolts (10mm diam) and 1 - 5T bolt (10mm diam). Anyone know the length and thread pitch?

i axed this same question awhile back.... below is Poser's response (pasted)


10 x 1.5 thread, three of the originals are 45mm long, iirc, and the one with the smog pump tensioning bracket on it is 55 or 60.


Make sure the threads in the block are clean.

Here are the part #s for the correct water pump bolts.

Longer bolt...

3 shorter bolts...

Does anyone know if it would be an issue to use a shorter 45mm bolt in the hole where the longer 55mm goes? My FJ40 had been de-smogged by one of the POs, who used several washers to shim the bolt head to the pump where the smog pump mount used to reside.

As long as you form a tight seal against engine and the pump doesn't leak, you should be fine.

Gentlemen, thanks for the input. My main worry was that the thread depth in the block would be different. After some sleep and looking at it again I realized that the only reason the bolt is longer is to accommodate the bracket and that the thread portion of the bolt is the same.

Would anyone happen to have a few up-close and personal technical photos of both the early F1.5 ‘s cast iron water pump and the later 2F ‘s aluminum water pump that show the original factory spacer in-place along with the drivers side lower mounting location alternator belt adjust bar , and the smog-pumps same drive belt tensioner bar that both affix to the RH. / right hand most of the 4 water pump bolts ?
