Where are you located in Northeast Alabama? I know a guy through my brother (he lives in Huntsville) that is a HUGE land cruiser guy. He is the son of the owner of Bill Penney Toyota in Huntsville. Maybe he will be able to help out.

Your ICS (Idle Cutoff Solenoid) on the back of your carb could be having problems if your truck cuts off when you push in your clutch.

Do a search on ICS check - pretty easy to trouble shoot it to see if it is working properly.

Now that all is well, I'll add a tidbit. I'm told that vapor lock occurs between tank and pump, therefore I've always felt that mounting an electric pump at the tank (because they are pushers-not suckers) would deminish the odds of vapor lock by deminishing the real estate where vapor locks occur??? What say you???

Umm your truck is telling you it likes to cruise at 55 not 70!

It's a late model with 3:70's so it loves 70:D

I made a jumper harness for the cut off and direct grounded it as per Posers request on the 81 as I was loosing power while at cruise. But I would also check the EGR system and make sure the cooler is not plugged and all is working properly.

A bit more likely on the 79 and newer models, where there's even more 'real estate' as you put it, between the tank and the pump.

I have this problem with my K5. Took years to track down. Installed a fuel pressure guage just ahead of the carb and watched the pressure drop on hills and heavy acceleration. Installed an electric fuel pump with a toggle that I can hit when the guage nears zero.

On the K5, there's even more 'real estate' involved!:p
