I wanted to get some thoughts on my problem.

I have a 69 pig, OME 75 rear springs, front end has 60 rear springs with shackle reversal, rear locked not front. Since I purchased my pig I have noticed that when I put it into 4WD that the front end shakes. Whether it be on a slow trail or going up an obstacle I get this weird shaking. As soon as I pull it out of 4WD it goes away.

The other day I was on Potato Salad and it was shaking wicked bad. I stopped and coasted easily down the hill. With the clutch in I backed up and there was this horrible clicking/grinding noise coming from the front end :confused: But I had the clutch in so nothing should have been engaged right??

Anyway, any advice on where I should start diagnosing?

Thanks!

Howdy! I'd be lookin over the front driveshaft pretty close. With the transfer in 2wd and the hubs free, it should rotate smoothly. You should not be able to shake either end up and down. John

Hi All:

I would guess that the issue is with the front differential.

Maybe the preload of the gears in the front diff is waaay off?

SWAG: perhaps the gear ratio of the front diff does not match the rear diff?

Regards,

Alan

A mate had a shaking prob it was the bolts on the front drive shaft to front diff were loose
