I saved myself the pain of denting the new cruiser by buying a pre dented (by The rubicon) model.

Maybe you should stay out of the rocks and just play in the sand. Whats the worst that could happen?

Ok...this does NOT show much body damage at all BUT it does show a jeep totaled and shows that 80's are tough.

Story is a drunk 15 year old in a mid 90's 4x4 chevy 3/4 ton truck was doing about 50 or so down my street when he nailed my neighbors jeep cherokee. It hit it so hard that it literally threw it about 100 feet down the road and AROUND THE CORNER where my truck was parked. It hit my FJ80 pushing it about 2 feet forward (in park awith e-brake on) and moving it away from the curb. I heard the crash, ran outside in bare feet and saw the kid driving away. I chased him for about 100 yards on foot (VERY Lethal Weapon) before I got a car passing by to drive after him and get the licence plate #....cops got him 5 minutes later. Here is a photo of his truck damage, and then mine.

Ok, so my damage is from the entrance to the Kodak Rock area at Uwharrie National Forest (before you get to the bypass)

So first picture is the damage, the second picture is the fixed version. I wasn't too worried about the dmg knowing I was going to paint the whole 80 in the spring.

While I rebuilt the front end, Dad jumped in and fixed my rocker for me, so the wife will continue to be willing to be "seen" in the 80!

He used a custom made air nibber that he made into a punch. Put in several holes, then used a slide hammer to pull the dent out. Then used fiberglass (aka plastic) to fill in the holes / smooth out the remaining dents.

Then shot it with undercoat (rattlecan type) and then hit it with a couple more rattlecan coats of white to finish it off. Not bad for a $0 cost fix, all stuff we had around the garage.

Monkeyboy- if I'm not mistaken, the area of your bumper shown in the pic is just a hollow plastic shell, as the rear crossmember ends before that corner.

True, it is. Not sure how it moved the truck without more damage. Maybe it ricocheted off the bumper hitch then hit the bumper corner. Beats me, all I know is that at the time I had no insurance so I was just happy it was not worse. The cops showed up just as I was getting ready to drive to work, they asked me for my insurance info....I just said "oh it is no big deal I dont want to claim it or anything". I know stupid to not have insurance but it ws only for a few weeks and luckily I made it out with only that scratch.
Photo shows how far it moved me. Both tires were a few inches from the curb and the front tire was pretty even with the weed on the curb.

Didn't even make it to the trails and got some good damage. Was following my buddy in his Heep down to some trails on a very rainy day. He was the 3rd car in the line of cars cruising down the highway. There appears a car just stopped in the middle of the road. The two vehicles in front of my friend slam on brakes and stop just in time. My friend slams on the brakes and swerves off the road, I attempt the same but no ABS and large skinny Boggers in the rain don't like to turn so I barely got to the shoulder and was sliding forwards. The tail light on my buddy's Heep saved me from totaling the mustang in front of him that I was sliding in a direct path towards.

Corner light destroyed, headlight brackets broken, all sorts of tabs in the front corner bent and broken, fender seems to be unfixable.

And a little door damage at Uwharries before it closed.

Yep, but pops doesnt want me riding around in a beat up lc so the fender is getting replaced. The door dent is there to stay, I think it gives it character.
