Posting up a good recent pic I got and also trying to get this thread rolling again. Scrolling through it many times got me to pull the trigger for these tires and it's been awesome.

Happy to see this relatively revived.

After running the Rubicon with a friend on a whim, my 2004 LC100 with a w inch lift and 33s needs lots of upgrades. We will go again in August with armor and 35s and hopefully cause less body damage.

This thread has provided ample motivation and info.

Do you have front and rear lockers yet? I’d invest there first before bigger tires.

Bigger tires are heavier and thus more rotational mass. When you do the wave, ATRAC isn’t designed to limit that much weight from wheels spin and when it sets back down you’ll break a CV or blow a diff. Ask me how I know (twice 🤦‍♂️…)

I do not have either. She did admirably, even making short work of climbs around the lake. Definitely needed more rear diff clearance!

Sliders and armor first, and lower rear trailing arms are "bananna-ed" I believe is the term.

No idea how to stick pics in here yet.

I want to take our FJ with rear locker in the Loon side to Gatekeeper just to see the difference.

It’s easy to misunderstand but lift height doesn’t make fitment any easier. Your wheels move up and down in an arc. All a lift does is change the default position of the tire in that arc. The tire needs to fit at ride height and stuffed to the bump stop.

@Hoffdaddy yes what tb said. The lift is similar to what you would normally do for an off road rig but it doesn't really matter in the end. Trying to keep good down travel and up travel balance is the key. I've extended my front bump stops so that I don't rub the fender and I'm probably about 2.5 inches lifted. If I come down I will have more down travel but less up travel as I will hit the bump stop sooner. Travel can be modified by longer shocks, no front sway bar or extended sway bar links, different upper control arms but we do have limitations with the torsion bars in place so differences are not crazy throughout rigs.

Makes sense, but I'm sure the projects with 35's had some minimum lift requirements, or are we saying is was always going to be fender/well/etc. mods to accommodate.

Appreciate the "travel" tips, and again makes sense as we don't want to rub the fender. Others posts mention their new 35s and make little to no mention of build/off-roading issues, and as much as I like the "tundra machines" with the 35s (show off your 35's thread) major mods are not in the plan.
