Alright, I’m throwing the towel in on my LX. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to do a swap or engine rebuild.

Looking for a solid base for your next off-road build or restoration? This 1997 Lexus LX450 (80 Series Land Cruiser platform) is a rust-free Southwest truck with beautiful paint, a refreshed interior, clean title, and tons of recent upgrades. The only thing missing is a healthy engine—it will need a rebuild or swap and must be towed.

Highlights & Upgrades (within the last 1,000 miles):
• Brand new carpet with Kilmat sound deadening installed
• New front leather seat covers
• Hand-stitched leather steering wheel
• Sony head unit with Apple CarPlay
• New door speakers
• Rosen visors
• WeatherTech mats (front, rear, and cargo)
• 3rd row delete (seats and hardware included if you want them back in)
• All dash lightbulbs replaced (D light works!)
• All interior lightbulbs replaced
• New aftermarket cupholders

Why This LX450?
• Southwest truck = rust free.
• Paint is in excellent condition
• Interior is clean and fresh
• The perfect starting point for a reliable overland or off-road rig

The Catch:
• Engine needs to be rebuilt or swapped. Truck will need to be towed.

If you’re looking for a clean 80 series to build on, this is it. Hard to find one this rust-free with the interior already dialed in.

I picked it up in Denver from a guy who redid the interior but didn’t touch the engine. He got it from Texas. I put a couple thousand miles on it as a third vehicle and then there was a major oil leak after driving a few miles one morning. My mechanic said it needed a swap or rebuild but couldn’t take it on. I brought it home and it’s been in my garage for over a year. I wanted to do a swap of my own but could never get around to it and need to move on. As far as I know it never ran without oil and never overheated but it’s not holding oil.

Where is the leak coming from? Front of the engine? Rear? Or just all over the place?
