I think the battery terminal cover (the plastic covers) came off and hit the fan and broke two fins. No cracks, but the sections out.

If I need to replace it, what part number will I need and how big of a PITA is it? 😂

Also need to replace either a belt or pulley….haven’t nailed down the whistling sound I’m getting…so I’ll need to do a few things while I’m in there.

Yes, replace it.

The fan itself is 16361-38020 and isn't too difficult to get out.. Just release belt tension (I find this much easier from the bottom), loosen the four nuts that hold the fan clutch to the support bracket, then loosen the retaining bolts and clips for the fan shroud and slide it all upwards at once. Be careful not to damage radiator fins.. if needed you can slide a piece of cardboard between the shroud and rad core.

If you want to do the fan clutch while you have it all out that is 16210-38070 but yours is likely fine at that mileage.

Thanks. Sounds like I need to replace the idler pulley and serpentine belt as well so hopefully I can just do it all at once.

Might as well do the tensioner too if you are in there that deep.

Protip: the bolt holding it on is 6mm allen and the hex fills with dirt, causing a fair number to strip the head. Dig the dirt out before getting the bit in there to loosen it.

Thanks for the info.

So tensioner, idler, serpentine and fan. What else? 😂

About to order these parts. The squeak went away and then just came back today. Need to go ahead and get it knocked out. Any guidance or tools that will make this easier? I’ve not replaced these before.

What @bloc says. He wrote exactly what I would have replied.

Basic metric hand tools will get the job done.

Removing and tightening the nuts holding the fan can be easier if you use a square shaft screwdriver across the other nut/studs to counter-hold and prevent the fan from rotating.
