Shop says no clear coat on bed and flooring on my FJ40

Sounds right to me. At most, the last coat would be a mix of clear and color, if it were me.

Our 40 tub that is in for paint is getting bedlined inside, but matched to the body color. There won't be a clear coat on it, but then, it's bedlined first...

could you imagine the deck of your rig in the rain with clearcoat? you might as well just strap banana peels onto the soles of your shoes. I think your shop has the right idea.

If you're having a shop do it then that sounds right. Two coats of single stage= two times around spraying. Base/Clear means four times around. Two for the color and at least two for the clear. Single stage is just fine on the inside and the shop is in it to make money not waste time. Either way it's going to be slick. I remember seeing a nice product for traction when I put epoxy on my garage floor. It was basically a clear sand that could be sprinkled on with a salt shaker while the paint was still wet as an alternative to the colored chips. Might check with some of the retailers selling floor epoxies if you're interested.

I wondering just how many mills wet and dry is 2 coats of single stage?

Single Stage 1.2-1.6 dry film build per coat
Clear coat 1.2-2.0 dry film build per coat
Base coat 0.3-0.4 dry film build per coat
Wet film build is very hard to judge because of so many variables such as gun distance, reducer, air temp, etc.
