What are the standard shocks front/rear for 86 FJ60 and where to get them cheap? Are adjustables like the Ranchos RS worth it?

Your knowledge very much appreciated!

I've owned lots of different shocks in the 11 years and 180K miles that I have put on my 60. I did have a set of the Rancho RS 9000s and they were ok, not great, but ok. I hated the ProComps that I had and the Skyjacker Hydros as well. My favorite off-the-shelf shock was the Skyjacker Softride Nitros. These were smooth and comfy with very good high speed and low speed dampening rates. OME shocks are great too, but expensive. Bilsteins are excellent quality shocks, some of which can be rebuilt and/or modified if you know how to rebuild a shock. Above all, I stress the fact that a good deal of refference material regarding Land Cruisers is flawed. If you want the right shock, you will need to remove your existing shocks and measure very carefully the distance between to two shock mounts with the axle at full drop. Then do the math to determine the collapsed length. Then buy your shocks based on the actuall dimensions of the shocks in question. Years of experience have burned this into my brain as the Unbreakable Shock Purchase Rule.
