I'm looking to replace the shocks on my 88 fj62 due to the fact the PO put on some heavy duty pieces of junk. You guys have any suggestions? It's my daily driver and towing or weight is not an issue.

thanks
Jarod

if its sprung over doesch techs (sp?) are good at controling the wieght and rather cheap...if your ride seems really stiff it might be from the lack of grease in you shackles and spring pins... take them apart check the bushings on them (i would put new ones in) grease em up and see if it does the trick..and if it doesnt you only be a out a buck or two for some grease...i had a super harsh ride til i did that.. i also took the spring packs apart and added grease between each leaf spring...the ride was 100% better after words...super cheap to do...just a lil bit of work...

If you are stock sprung, the OEM shocks are hard to beat, and reasonable in price. That's what I am running right now.

I'll second the OEM shocks, cheap(like $20 each) and good(Tokico made), hard combo to beat. I ran em on the 62, switched to OME(got a deal on some) and its hard to really tell the difference...there is some but not alot.

Did the same swap on the 40 however, new OEM to new OME, the OME made a big(er) difference but it might have been because I was use to OME on my other 40, still the OEM gave a nice ride.

also heard nothing but good things about bilsteens on a 62(at least stock), no personal experence.

I'm selling a set of Bilstein's that are correct for a stock suspension setup if you are interested.....

$$?

I need shocks bad. Right now it takes 3-4 bounces before my truck settles down after a pot hole. It makes me laugh anyway.
