I need to replace the shocks on my 40 because the ones on it are at least 10-15 years old and totally shot! However, I don't want to spend a bunch of money on them right now because I'll be putting new springs on it, as part of a lift, here shortly- there's no sense in putting expensive shocks on for 2-4 months and then turning around and replacing them, since the used shocks won't be worth anything. Still, I'd like something that will give me a half-way decent ride in the meantime. I was looking at some Monroe Gas Magnums or even just some Monroe Gas-Matics from Pep-Boys. IF I can find them in town for a reasonable price, I MIGHT think about some Bilsteins on the front and some of the Gas Magnums on the back.

Any suggestions?

Nick

YEP. Wait til you can do it right, why waste money and time for only a couple of month's ? not worth the time or moola ...

do it right the first time and forget about it ... ;)

MY .02 WORTH

GOOD LUCK ....

Exactly, if you plan on replacing springs and such in a few months you may as well save your $$.

My experience is that most inexpensive shocks come off the same assembly line no matter who's brand sticker is included in the box. If you are going cheap, the quality will be the dame beacuse the part is the same.

cheap gas-a justs from japan via summit. not bad. much better than 30 year old originals.

KYBs.. good shock at a nice price.

I picked up the rears from Pep Boys for 19.99 each. Pretty cheap and they had them in stock. I haven't drove on them yet but the ones I took off were originals and rusted through the gas tubes
