I have a 3 inch lift on my 1980 fj40 from Spector and it looks like it was put on about 13 years ago by the paper work I have. It also has Rancho 5000 shocks. Currently we call my FJ :bounce: "bouncing betty":bounce2: (military people will know this term) as it just bounces all the time. For family sake and myself i would like a smoother ride. The springs seem great and it handles the road well. What do you folks run? and what would be your imput on this.
I have Dochect? shocks on my very soft lifted rock crawler Samauri and was thinking of those.
thanks

Erick, Have been trying to reply to this all day long but thanks to Sprint DSL i have not been able to.

Ok , in answer to your question i would go back with some RS5000, or go to a RS9000. They are good shocks but all shocks are good only for so long.

Could not tell you for sure, by the time i get ahold of old ones they are worn out, and then i lift them, then they are kinda stiff.

My FJ40 has never been "bouncy". It has always been rather stiff but not uncomfortable. I have Rancho springs now and Doetch Tech shocks. Both have treated me fairly well. The Rancho springs, shackle reversal, and shackles gave me about a 4" lift and because of that I am able to run 33" tires. I say all that because I think the tires absorb most of the road bumps and vibrations.
