Comparing FJ25, Very Early FJ40 and early FJ40 Shock Assemblies.

FJ25 Part # Old & New
2BJ 48530 48511-69010

FJ40 Part # Old & New
FJ40 48510. 48511-69010

FJ40 Part # Most Recent
48511-60040

If anyone is looking to install Factory #’d Shock Assemblies to their restoration project it might be simpler than you thought.
Purchase a later set of FJ40 Shocks and carefully remove the dust shield.
Locate an Early OEM set, Media Blast the Dust Shield and remove it. Then weld the older dust shield to the new shock assy, being careful not to generate too much heat. Clean up, paint and you have a new shock with Old Part #’s
